@kerrym87 yeah that's not very helpful of them. Hopefully they do reply, I'm sure I got a price from them at some stage. Getting it from the clinic does make it easier. When do you need all this by?

kerrym87 · 11/11/2023 06:14

@thislittlebird we've got time, nurse planning appt 6th, hoping to start down regs 3rd ish week December. We're just away for 8 nights before appt

kerrym87 · 15/11/2023 11:09

@thislittlebird fertility2u still refusing without px 🙄 not gona bother with them now, too much hassle! Have you used buserelin before?
Has anyone else used it, just trying to get an idea of side effects to figure out if I'd need reduced duties at work or be fine. It's a demanding job requiring lots of brain power and I have brain fog as it is, as well as migraines

thislittlebird · 15/11/2023 11:56

@kerrym87 oh no that’s super annoying about fertility 2u. I used out clinic for everything for convenience.

I have not had buserelin, no. Maybe @Misty84 might have had it?

Misty84 · 15/11/2023 13:19

@kerrym87 @thislittlebird Sorry I’ve not had buserelin either.

For my first ivf round I bought all from Asda pharmacy which saved £200, however because everything failed very early for me and I had nothing to transfer I actually had surplus medication so it didn’t save me money at all (£600 worth of excess meds🤬).
Second round of ivf I bought it from the clinic as I went along, more pricey and it was really annoying having to pay a £5 charge EVERY TIME I asked for the next bit of medication, but it did stop me spending as much overall because, once again, all failed quickly and nothing to transfer. And for convenience it was also good (not that Asda wasn’t convenient as I lived close to one at the time).
I complained to the Lister afterwards that they should be more transparent with women about whether they actually need to purchase all the meds in one go, and the benefits of perhaps not doing that. They escalated it and offered to refund me the money for what I hadn’t used in the first round, however because I’d bought it elsewhere they were unable to! ☹️

Sorry I’ve gone off on a massive tangent there!

Lauralozzle · 15/11/2023 17:50

@kerrym87 I’ve had buserelin. Didn’t really get the hot flushes or brain fog, but I did get a local reaction when I did the injection - it was red, quite itchy and sore afterwards. I know it affects some people horribly though (depression, brain fog, hot flushes etc) so I think I was quite lucky. I was on it for about 6 weeks.

kerrym87 · 15/11/2023 18:09

I got that reaction from the fyrmadel. I already get brain fog and awful pms with low mood.

MIW01 · 15/11/2023 21:06

Hello everyone,

I don't know how I keep on managing to lose the thread but I do! I'm now 38 years old. TTC since August 2018. I've been through 3½ rounds of IVF (one ICSI) and 1 round there were no eggs. 3 failed transfers. No embryos to freeze. All embryos from own eggs B or C grade. So egg quality issues. After IVF round 3 conceived naturally and got a BFP! Miscarried at 7 weeks. 6 months later started round 4 of IVF but no eggs so decided to try donor eggs. That was in March 2023. Due to me having diabetes and other health conditions it's taken from March until now to start this Journey! We've had more shit luck. We purchased 7 donor eggs from the London Egg Bank 5 fertilised but unfortunately only 1 embryo to freeze. We were hoping for 2! So likely to also be sperm issues! We had our Nurse planning last week and we've booked our FET for next cycle which is 2nd week of December so embryo transfer is expected around the 21st December. Great timing! So we have decided to give Mother Nature one last chance to get us pregnant the old fashioned way but I'm not holding out much hope. I just can not get myself in the head space or mindset to believe that it'll ever happen for us! It's a horrible place to be and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!

Misty84 · 16/11/2023 15:05

@MIW01 Im so sorry to read your update. The thing is that when you’ve achieved pregnancy naturally before, you know it’s POSSIBLE and I’ve never known if that makes it easier or harder to bear.
Have you had a detailed sperm dna fragmentation test? Only asking because we had shit ivf rounds too (despite using IMSI and then ICSI) - with a MC (at 10 weeks) inbetween ivf rounds. My partner’s sperm was appalling and my AMH was in the ‘low/undetectable’ range. We kept working on me (immunology testing) and kept working on him (varicocele removed and taking Proxeed plus various other supplements) while we researched donor eggs. And continued TTC out of habit more than any belief that it would happen. Then a shock bfp at 39. Therefore I’ve had 2 natural pregnancies in 4 years, 1 which failed and 1 which (touch wood) looks like it will be ok. So I would say don’t give up on trying naturally because your body has shown you that it’s not impossible. I know exactly how it feels to lose all hope though.

It’s shit that this donor round hasn’t given you more than one embryo, it’s an absolute joke especially when I imagine it’s cost a lot to purchase eggs. You’ve got one, which is better than none, and hopefully the embryo is of good enough quality to give you a decent chance. I’m just so sorry that this journey is so tough and so incredibly unfair. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND how popping out children is so easy for most people, like what the hell. They live in blissful oblivion.

MIW01 · 20/11/2023 22:46

@Misty84 COMET tests done pre and post varicocele repair for DH and after showed very much improved and in fertile range so we don't have any known reason for it being rubbish but the SA he had a couple of weeks back showed numbers got worse, and he is still getting pain in testicles so I very much expect that sperm is playing a part here, too. If this DE ET doesn't work then I think we need to have a conversation about embryo adoption as it's very expensive and we don't want to keep throwing money to race a dead horse, so to speak!

For some reason I am feeling more hopeful about it all both natural and DE journey. Just the waiting game again!

ShirleyValentineManc · 21/11/2023 20:14

Hello all,

Today we had our first transfer.
I'm after some advice please.
My sister decided today was a good day to send a baby scan on our sisters whatsapp, completely out of the blue, my nephew is expecting.
Would you think that was appropriate on this day?

kerrym87 · 22/11/2023 09:21

@ShirleyValentineManc for us absolutely not. Unfortunately, for others, thy don't see the hurt and how thoughtless it is. Did she know it was your transfer day?
People.who haven't gone through this just dont get it, they either think...transfer, its not even a baby yet why are you upset, or transfer = baby.
I totally get it and it's OK to feel hurt but its usually lack of knowledge. There's a webinar on fertility network uk for relatives/friends which i found helped with unintentional hurtful things.
It's OK to feel this, hormones and treatemnts kick our asses, fingers crossed for a sticky bean x

thislittlebird · 22/11/2023 09:57

Yeah I agree with @kerrym87, it’s not cool if she knew you were having a transfer. If she didn’t and knows you’re going through ivf, it’s still insensitive.

Hope you transfer went well and fingers crossed for it@ShirleyValentineManc

MIW01 · 22/11/2023 11:13

Fingers crossed @ShirleyValentineManc that the transfer works. Regarding the sending of the scan. Unacceptable and insensitive. Screw the, "can't you just be happy for everyone else," bollocks. No. Sometimes you can't. Sometimes the hurt and the grief are so overwhelming and you are only human experiencing the most visceral loss you can possibly go through! Personally, I think it's every one else being insensitive and selfish and if you hadn't guessed already after over 5 years of this shit I'm not afraid to tell them so!

ShirleyValentineManc · 22/11/2023 17:37

It gets worse, she knew it was transfer day and has one son, through IVF!!!!

MIW01 · 22/11/2023 20:12

@ShirleyValentineManc The cockneys have a special word for people when they do that sort of behaviour. It begins with c and ends in t, 4 letters, rhymes with runt.

ShirleyValentineManc · 22/11/2023 20:51

@MIW01 love love love

Misty84 · 23/11/2023 06:35

@ShirleyValentineManc That is shockingly insensitive, I would be very upset with her in your position and certainly call her out on it.
Best of luck with your transfer though!!

@MIW01 Im glad you are feeling more positive. It sounds like you will find a way to have a family. ❤️

kerrym87 · 24/11/2023 13:34

@ShirleyValentineManc that was just vindictive I mean she should know how it feels! Unless she was a lucky 1st ivf cycle bingo winner then she hasn't had the crao we've had x

ShirleyValentineManc · 26/11/2023 19:09

Thanks for your comments guys.
Just one week until test day. Don't feel pregnant at all, so not holding out much hope.
I think about you all x

kerrym87 · 28/11/2023 09:49

@ShirleyValentineManc not everyone feels any different and the meds affect how you feel too. Just take each day at a time, sending hugs x

MIW01 · 01/12/2023 19:53

Hello everyone, just checking to ask how you're all doing? @Marvellouslymadmum @ShirleyValentineManc @kerrym87 @Misty84 @thislittlebird ??? I'm keeping everything crossed for us all really! DH and I have been at like rabbits this month in a final attempt before we're due to start DE treatment but I'm getting usual PMS symptoms now at CD26 so also not holding out much hope. Fingers crossed that DE works. This year has gone so quickly and now only 30 odd days left!

kerrym87 · 02/12/2023 11:07

@MIW01 got nurse planning appt on 6th for long protocol and then the wrangling around work patterns will begin. Not looking forward to buserelin side effects which are my achilles heel everyday anyway of fatigue headaches and brain fog 😕

ShirleyValentineManc · 13/12/2023 15:38

We got a positive test on 4th Dec. But have bled this Monday and Tuesday. As per usual, Early Pregnancy refusing to see you unless you're haemorrhaging. Clinic told us to keep taking meds and keep our viability scan 28th. I don't understand why EPU don't ask us in for bloods to check if hormones are going up, quick way to find out?

ShirleyValentineManc · 13/12/2023 15:40

Oh PS bleeding has stopped today
