TTC - cycle number 1

I've been waiting for a LONG time for this and now it's finally here we've officially started TTC! I'm currently tracking my ovulation - no sign of peak yet, but due to ovulate any day :)

I'm really excited / nervous about this process. My cycle is around 24-28 days! Anyone else similar and just started trying?

Hello! Yes I am in the same boat too :) I came off the pill on 11 June and ovulated 13 July. I was using test strips too which were really useful. I'm now 9DPO and I don't think it's happened for us this much. I've read that if your cervical mucus starts to dry up around 7DPO it means that your progesterone is dropping (which happens before your period, whereas it goes up if you are pregnant). That's what has happened to me so I am assuming it's a no! It's ok though, it's only cycle 1 and there's always next month :) Like you I've been waiting ages for this and I'm really excited so fingers crossed it happens for us both soon!

xttcbabyno1x · 22/07/2022 11:56

@imy hi lovely!! Awh bless you I hope it happens for you soon too, it's just nice knowing that you're trying isn't it?❤️

I'm still currently waiting for peak ovulation, my partners asked me not to tell him when I'm ovulating because he said he'll stress 😂 so I just get to start DTD with him when we need to/ when I want to!

Hi@xttcbabyno1x and@imy
I've just started ttc as well. I'm not tracking ovulation but have fairly regular periods. I think we are going to try for without worrying about precise ovulation times for a few months and then might gets testing strips a few months down the line. Teaching SO about hormones and cycles and ovulation was funny! He's been with me for almost 20yrs and just ignored all that but now every morning he wants to look at period Calender on my phone.

Good luck both. Have you told many people you are ttc? I'm fetile this week. Noticing all sorts of weird sensations . Ment to be working today but my mind is soo distracted 🙃

xttcbabyno1x · 22/07/2022 12:45

@Sailawaygirl ooh I don't blame you because I'm weeing on an ovulation stick every two minutes and already panicking - so I need to have a chat with myself and take a chill pill!

It's funny isn't it, I was trying to explain to my SO last night about cervical mucus and his face was a picture 😂😂

We actually told people we were going to start trying in September but decided to just start trying now, what about you? X

Sailawaygirl · 22/07/2022 12:55

We only decided to ttc 3 weeks ago! Been mentioning it to each other for a few years but came up with so many excuses. In reality just scared. Such a hard mind set change when for my whole life I've been told to study hard, get good grades, work hard, get job, get better job ect and the lingering feeling of 'what ever you do don't get pregnant '. I feel a sense of relief though when we said 'let's try, we can be parents'!
I'm going to tell a best friend tomorrow but no one else. I'm not that close to mum ( although I see her often) . IF I get the positive test I'm actually most worried about tell my parents ( I still feel like their baby girl and they will tell me off).
Good luck with stick weeing! And this cycle. I'm feeling the 2ww nerves already

niknaks37 · 22/07/2022 13:20

Hey jumping on this thread.
Back story - 37 yrs old been with DH for 7.5 yrs.
Just started TTC earlier this month, ovulated around 9th July. Currently taking the approach of following my flo app which I have religiously used for 3 years to help gauge when I'm due to ovulate, think the nerves got to better of me earlier this month as I didnt DTD as often as I should have.
AF arrived today and I was 2 days late, felt a little disappointed but I am more determined in cycle 2.

Next approach more DTD on most fertile days and predicted ovulation.
Still not taking ovulation tests and waiting for AF to be at least 4 days late before I take HPT.

Has anyone bought Conceive plus? Was thinking of trying.

xttcbabyno1x · 22/07/2022 13:49

@Sailawaygirl ah bless, my partner was scared but I said to him there will never be a right time, we have a house and good jobs there's no time like now :)

Oh please don't let telling your parents worry you because honestly I'm sure it will be fine 😘 Do you feel pressure this cycle ? I'm really trying not to stress haha!

@niknaks37 helloooo 😃😃 good luck for this cycle!! I haven't tried conceive plus to be honest, but I've read good things!!

How are you feeling about this cycle ?

OP posts:
Sailawaygirl · 22/07/2022 14:17

@xttcbabyno1x on the surface I feel calm but I feel more anxious this cycle if I'm honest with myself. Felt tearful this morning,Keep feeling twinges in my abdomen and this morning felt a bit queezy. But defo to early to be morning sickness so I guess it is the anxiety. Really can't concentrate today!

@niknaks37 Do you mean the conceive plus pills? I'm just taking folic and a mutil vitamin.

It does feel like there's something else I should be doing, like I'm missing a magic piece of advise. And I'm not normal an anxious person!

H1994 · 22/07/2022 16:01

Hey! Yes, I'm in the same boat too... We're calling it 'peakweek' in my house haha, and 'peakday' (ovulation day) is predicted Sunday... so we're DTD as much as we can this week...

Fingers crossed for everyone! :) x

NatalieSF · 22/07/2022 16:17

Hey 👋

I've just started cycle 2 of our ttc journey. Been waiting what feels like forever to ttc as we covid held up our wedding and I said no babies till afterwards 🤣

Had the mirena out at the beginning of June just finished my first cycle with AF beginning last night. Thinking of investing in digital OPKs as I just can't get along with the normal ones!.

J1290 · 22/07/2022 20:53

Really want a third. Really odd first 54 day cycle no clue why. But officially proper cycle now and hoping its not gona be a long one! Just about ovulated and dtd. Fingers crossed
was first cycle for my second baby hoping this one is just as quick.
i dont us ovulation sticks or temping that drove me to insanity with my first baby
just trying to track cm with this one..
both working alot more now dtd much harder and hes not always in the mood when i am.
good luck everyone!

niknaks37 · 22/07/2022 22:54

@xttcbabyno1x thanks, I'm more determined and hopeful for this cycle. Already marked on the calender for next DTD fertile window.
Yes I read reviews for conceive plus @Sailawaygirlit is the lubricant I was wondering about, forgot the brand sells vitamins as well. I am currently taking pregnacare multi vitamin with folic acid.

Chanteuse · 23/07/2022 00:15

Heyy 👋🏼

Jumping on this thread! Background we’re both 29 and TTC baby number 1 💕

I’m having my mirena coil removed next week so until my cycle is back to normal we’re just going to not prevent anything, enjoy it and see what happens! Maybe in a few months will look into ovulation tests.

I am going to start taking conceive plus next week too 💕

imy · 23/07/2022 18:50

Hi guys, nice to hear from others in the same boat! I am 10DPO today and did a clear blue early response this morning which was negative. This afternoon I have had a short bleed which I had assumed was my period (I know it’s early but this is first cycle off the pill so assume body is still settling), but it then disappeared. It was light pink and wasn’t accompanied by much cramping. All of this is unusual for me as the first day of my period is usually heavy, red and crampy. I’ve also never ever started bleeding then just stopped straight away. I am now wondering if this could be an implantation bleed? Apparently you need to wait a few days to test from an implantation bleed. Unfortunately I am very impatient!

Nypie · 23/07/2022 21:57

Hey all, looking for people in a similar situation to me! I'm 30 we've decided to try for our first this is our first cylcle I've been off the pill and tracking for almost a year now so have a good idea of my cycle should be ovulating on the Thursday so going to try Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday dont think its the best approach but my partner is very excited for the marathon 😂😂 what is everyones plan?

Nypie · 23/07/2022 22:00

@imy when did you stop taking the pill? Your periods post pill can be very different to pre pill and during. So expect the un expected! What your saying sounds like spotting to me, but try not to stress and in a few days take a cheap pregnancy test. Best of luck!

H1994 · 23/07/2022 22:48

Hi all

Hope we're all okay!!

I have a quick question, sorry if TMI but my predicted ovulation is tomorrow, we DTD today and this evening I've noticed a tiny bit of spotting - not like fully pink discharge, like little specks of blood in clear discharge

Could this mean anything?? Or am I asking silly Q's 🙈

Thank you

niknaks37 · 24/07/2022 21:47

@Nypie 😂 I did laugh when you said not the best approach but hubby looking forward to the marathon.

My hubby said the same now we are going into the second cycle. I decided to take the approach of DTD every other day up until day before predicted ovulation then go for 3 in a row, plus using conceive plus lubricant. Hubby is happy with the plan while I am all for the little guys racing for the egg 🤣.

@H1994 not a silly question at all. Is there a possibility you could have ovulated earlier? Might be implantation bleeding? Maybe keep an eye to see if their is anymore.
Did you DTD before today?

Sorry for all the questions but blood could mean anything.

H1994 · 24/07/2022 21:51

@niknaks37 hey!! Thanks for replying! Erm, I highly doubt it... I'm only CD9 (my cycles are short so predicted ovulation was today!..) so I'm thinking the flecks of blood last night was either ovulation (as my discharge today has been pretty telling of ovulation)? We DTD yesterday and today 🙈

H1994 · 24/07/2022 21:52

@niniknaks37 I haven't noticed anymore since!?

Nypie · 24/07/2022 22:48

@niknaks37 😂😂 he's honestly so excited he thought it as gonna be twice a day bless him 🙄. How did your hubby deal with fertile week in the end? I keep hearing about men feeling pressured and not being able to perform seems like a very foreign concept atm. Seems like a good plan...is that the sperm meets egg?

niknaks37 · 26/07/2022 13:33

@Nypie twice a day!?! Lol! Uber keen!
We were both nervous weirdly but then when we DTD first time for TTC our nerves disappeared and then hubby got all excited, we used condoms before so their is that novelty feeling without wearing one.
Don't think he will ever feel pressured, at least I hope not.
We have always said even when we were dating let's just go with the flow, step by step.
Yes I meant sperm meets the egg, sadly it didnt happen cycle one but I'm near my fertile window in cycle two so fingers crossed!

@H1994 I would take it as a good sign that you have ovulated, relax and fingers crossed for the rest of your cycle.

H1994 · 26/07/2022 13:51

@niknaks37 thank you! Although today I've had EWCM out of nowhere?... so we go again later too 😅😂 bodies are strange!

NalaNana · 26/07/2022 14:30

Hi I'd like to jump on this one! This is cycle 1 of TTC for me and my partner but my second pregnancy following a miscarriage in June (which was an unplanned but wanted pregnancy and kind of encouraged us to TTC now!)

Currently CD6 so will start with the ovulation tracking shortly.

Good luck all!

Chanteuse · 26/07/2022 15:09

I’ve had my coil removed today - was actually so shocked when the doctor removed it - I didn’t feel a thing! Which is fab because I had a terrible experience getting it in. Also picked up some pregnacare vitamins and taken one today.

So… I’m officially TTC! 🙈 I’m so broody at the moment too… exciting 🥰
