Ovulation tests - confused!

Really struggling to get the hang of this ovulation malarkey!

Left is yesterday, right is today, ovulation in theory due tomorrow.

But they don't look any different to each other to me for them to show progress?

Or is it regular for them to be the same for a few days before ovulation?

6/7 months in TTC here and can't DTD today or any time again this month but have done so for the last three days so thinking that if ovulation is any later than tomorrow we've probably missed our chance 😞

I don't know if we've missed the boat anyway even if ovulation is on time as while in theory they say five days before and the day of ovulation, I don't think I've read of anyone on here who has conceived 3/4/5 days before ovulation. Does anyone? Maybe I'm just being negative because every month seems crueller!

Both look dark posiitive so ovulating aurely?? so dtd last three days sounds like ur in for a shot?? Sperm can last 4/5 days they say?

wellhelloitsme · 21/07/2022 23:08

Thanks so much for replying, I really appreciate it!

I thought the line had to be the same as the control one for it to show ovulating but I'm finding everything quite confusing, so I might be wrong?

God it's stressful isn't it?!

Hopefully some of his swimmers will have stuck around long enough 🤞🏻

From my understanding the line has to be the same colour or darker than the control line

Keep testing twice a day so you don't miss your peak!

mummatara · 21/07/2022 23:17

I conceived after only DTD once 5 days before I ovulated so it is possible!

I think your OPKs are close but not quite there yet🤞🏼

That was my understanding and unfortunately if that is the case we've probably missed the boat this month as while we have DTD Mon, Tue and Wed (as in yesterday), due to work logistics we aren't in the same place to DTD today or the following two.

I've never heard anyone on here say they've conceived from having DTD 3/4 days before ovulation but everywhere I read says it's possible in principle. Perhaps it's just very rare so there's still a chance this month.

Gosh I'm so tired with it all and often sad 😞

Need to just try to stay positive.

You will know when it's positive from my experience. The line is usually much darker or at least the same. Fingers crossed for you

Sorry cross posted! This has made me feel like at least there's a possibility in that case. Hard doing the TWW when you kind of know it's already over. Massive congrats on yours, whether it was recent or a while ago! Flowers

It should look something like this.

Keep testing because you might get a peak when you're back with eachother again :)

Thanks so much @Harper02

Left to right shows Wednesday, Thursday and today (which I think is still negative?) so maybe I'm still in with another shot if my ovulation day turns out to be a day or two later than predicted originally...

Here are my results. I was consistently low during the fertile week (according to Flo) and thought I'd never get a positive. Then got a raging and very clear positive on CD14 before a quick drop on CD15 again. I honestly thought nothing was happening for days then the peak came on so quickly so keep testing.

Oh wow that peak is so strong and so quick!

That really helps, thank you. I'll keep testing and not count myself out quite yet!

So I've continued testing daily and wish I had done this on previous months!

This month at least it seems I ovulate (it was a very dark strong line, darker than the test one) on cycle day 19/20.

So I think we've maybe been focused on the wrong timings by quite a few days.

Obviously we'd ideally DTD every other day throughout my cycle but this isn't always possible due to work commitments which include travel.

My cycle is usually 32 days. Anyone else ovulate around 19/20 days with that length cycle?

Thanks for encouraging me to keep testing, I feel like this is such valuable knowledge to have. And means maybe we weren't officially out for this month so it gave us a second chance!

mummatara · 27/07/2022 13:16

I have a varied cycle of 24-31 days if I'm having a longer cycle month I tend to ovulate around CD20 so I think your pretty good with a peak around then. The month I fell pregnant I ovulated at CD23!

Glad you kept testing and sending baby dust to you 💕

mummatara · 27/07/2022 13:16

@wellhelloitsme sorry was meant to tag you
