Failed Vasectomy?

Ok so I'm freaking out. My husband and I have four beautiful children together. We decided that our family was complete so he had a vasectomy in October last year. The silly thing is, he never ended up going back for the follow up test. Stupid I know, and I feel like a complete idiot.
We have only had unprotected sex a handful of times as it's always been at the back of my mind about him not being tested.
My period is always on time, this time it's about 6 days late. Not able to test until the weekend 😫
Has anyone had a pregnancy after a vasectomy? Or has anyone's partner done the follow up test and still had live sperm? I guess I'm just wondering how common this is.

I only know one person it's happened to personally. They had 3, then husband had a vasectomy and then ended up with twins.

I don't believe its overly common but happens.

So….bomb has been dropped. 39 turning 40 and suffering from an autoimmune condition which I am getting treatment for. Husband had a vasectomy late on last year and while in hospital getting tests, they do a pregnancy test as I mention not having my period in a few months (which I believed was due to illness) sure as hell it comes back positive. We have two little ones already and we’re very happy with what we had, hence the vasectomy. Hubby said he had been tested and was told no active swimmers back in April, so I came off the pill. Now we are expecting again, I don’t know how to cope. With the illness, getting on a bit and not planning another child. My heads a mess, also I feel my husband is suspicious about it all!! I would never cheat on him, I don’t have the time or energy. It’s all a mess…anyway, just wonder if anyone else been in a similar situation that may have some words of wisdom? TIA x

Yeah my OH sis the other day, waiting on results. Thing is, doesn’t change our situation 🙈 but understand needs to be done as will need procedure done again.

Yes my sister and husband made a decision between bigger house/another baby. Ended up with both. He followed up but late and they called to say that it hadn't worked the day my sister found out she was pregnant. She answered "I know"!!

I believe that even if the vasectomy is successful there is a faint possibility of it failing later.

Yes. I know of a friend in your exact situation who went on to have baby number 5.

My brother was told at his follow up test that it had only partially worked, my sis in law ended up having to get sterilised.

It definitely can happen.

My Ex was still returning positive samples more that 18 months after the procedure. Later clear, but it's not at all unusual.

So my husband has had his 2nd sperm check since vasectomy last October and it has come back clear again!! Yet I had a positive pregnancy test when in hospital last week! How can that be? I am 100% faithful to my husband and have been for the 14 years we have been together! I feel like I am living in a nightmare!

Have you tried buying a sperm test privately? My partner thought I had cheated because he had a vasectomy but he is the only one I slept with.

what an awful feeling it is eh?? I’m not sure if it would be helpful doggytastic as that’s two cams back all clear. I’m starting to question if I’m actually pregnant now, only a urine test done at hospital, no follow up blood test. My head is spinning! I feel awful for my husband and can understand his head must be all over the place too but jeez, it’s my body this is actually happening to and if any one is going to have suspicions, it will be about my monogamy!! Honestly couldn’t think of anything worse, sleeping with another man.
