BFP after Early Miscarriage

Hi all

I've received a BFP after having an early Miscarriage a few months ago. My HCG levels weren't increasing enough and my progesterone was low.

What would you do next? Do you request the GP to start taking blood samples? I'm just unsure on next steps.
Also how do you deal with the anxiety/fear it will happen again?

Sorry about your loss, but congratulations on your new pregnancy 👶.

I had a MC at 9 weeks in March, because this was my first they didn't do any test's but told me it could have been the babies Chromosomes.

Contact your GP and ask them for a blood test to check your HCG levels. I'm unsure about how to get Progesterone checked or prescribed but i'm sure they will point you in the right direction.

Unfortunately the worry or anxiety doesn't go away. I'm currently 15 weeks pregnant and i still worry. Just keep speaking about how you feel and be kind to yourself.

Good Luck!

@Laurzz Thanks for your message!

I'm also very sorry to hear about your loss but also a huge congratulations on your pregnancy.

I have a call with the GP later today to see if they can monitor my levels closely. 🤞🏽.

Yes, that's my worry that I won't stop worrying! How do you manage it? Xx

@Msplove thanks!

Hopefully they will be able to give you some bloods tests. The blood test will also give you some re-assurance.

I'll be real, its been a struggle for both me and my partner. My partner took the MC a lot harder than I did. We were looking at getting him some counseling when I found out I was pregnant again. This created a whole different kind of worry and anxiety.

Once my symptoms started I felt less anxious but whenever i had a good day with very little symptoms I'd go back into the mind frame that it over. We also didn't go for any re-assurance scans because I didn't want to be told at 7 weeks there was a heartbeat then be told at my 12 week scan there was no heartbeat. The key is communication I spoke a lot with my midwife about my concerns and she re-assured with everything. I spoke a lot with people on here in a similar situation. I don't believe my anxiety will go away until I'm holding my baby. Everyone deals with things differently and a positive outcome from a blood test might be enough to put your mind a ease. X

@LaurLaurzz Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I think I'm also going to be anxious regardless.

I've had 2 blood tests and has showing my hcg is more than doubling.. quite high looking more like week5 levels than week 4 so now I'm worried they're too high.

I think I'll stop worrying once my baby is here x

@Msplove that's great news - all sounds like it's going in the right direction. HCG levels can be high if your having twins (so I believe). Or possibly further on than you think.

I'm very much the same until baby is here I wont stop worrying but it does get easier each milestone you hit.

Good Luck! x

@Laurzz so on Friday my HCG was at 77 and yesterday (based on LMP @ 4 weeks 3 days) my HCG was 988. Which is quite substantially higher.
Have one more blood test tomorrow. Let's see!
Google can be an anxiety causer reading all things about high HCG being a molar pregnancy or meaning high chance of disability. It's all just too much after what we went throguh last time.

How are you getting on? Xx

@Msplove hmm.. i don't know an awful lot about hcg levels but lets see what tomorrow brings. I just know if they increase over 48 hours it' a good sign.

Google can be the devil sometimes. Is you GP worried about the level?

I'm good, the heat has been a real struggle but hopefully that's the worse of it over. X

Msplove · 20/07/2022 16:47

@Laurzz GP has ordered another blood test for me to do tomorrow for peace of mind mainly I think.. she didn't seem to think much of the sharp increase. I will for sure ask more questions tomorrow after I get the results.

The heat is unbearable for sure!
