What extras worked for you??

Going into cycle 2 and have got my head around the OPK and BBT malarkey - so now want to explore all the other extras in what seems like a world of infinite options!

I did take Conceive + pills, and wasn’t sure whether to reorder them for this cycle, or if there are others more highly recommended? Or a mix of buying things separately?

What about the little sperm cup 😂 is that recommended? Or grapefruit juice, or soy?!

Basically, off to Boots and Amazon tonight and want to know the best things to buy are - previous threads and Google bamboozled me!!

We bought pre seed the month I got pregnant. Never actually used it but maybe it helped 🤣 I'm just kidding, it obviously didn't help us, but I did see it recommended a lot.

Pre seed

Heretochill · 13/07/2022 18:35

@NeverHadANickname haha pre seed is that good it works even if only in the house! Off to Google it!

Apparently so 😁 not so scientifically proven. Good luck!

For a few months before TTC I've started taking pregnacare pre conception. My partner started taking the same brand for man.
When TTC started using clearblue digital ovulation tests, and even bought the pre seed and used menstrual cup but it didn't work for me.
After 2 months TTC since I wasn't pregnant, I changed to conceive plus (ovulation + pre conception bundle). I don't have pcos but I guess it wouldn't hurt 😅. At the same time my partner also started taking CoQ10.
After taking it for 2 months I got pregnant.
It can be a coincidence because I went on holiday and just wanted to relax. I didn't do the ovulation tests (but I get cramps so I know when I ovulated), drank alcohol and eat whatever I wanted. Just kept taking the vitamins. Good luck 🙂

@dpr89 thank you for taking the time to explain it all - my main takeaway is I need a holiday (with cocktails!)😁

@Heretochill considering the amount of ladies that get pregnant by accident whilst drunk, cocktails sounds like a good plan 😁😁

RuthW · 13/07/2022 20:39

I stopped trying.

Heretochill · 13/07/2022 21:14

@RuthW , it’s mad when I hear that! We actually do have a holiday booked in a few months time, and DH is adamant that’s when it’ll happen as we’ll be all chilled!

If you don’t mind, can I ask if you knew roughly when you were ovulating? Or was it truly random sex and bingo?

Absolutely random, in answer to you question. Tried three years and nothing. Clomid for a few cycles and nothing. Failed iui then decided to stop trying for three months over the summer to see if we wanted to go down the ivf route as we were undecided. At the end of the three months and beginning of Sept I was pregnant. That baby is 25 now. That was my one and only pregnancy as we used contraception afterwards!

Heretochill · 13/07/2022 23:02

@RuthW wow, what a journey you had!! It’s really amazing when the focus is off / isn’t front of mind how that can be the right time. We’ve both said we’ll try with all the planning etc before holiday, then see how it goes. Although I now it’s a definite ‘thing’ I don’t know how good I’d be at putting it out of mind! Thank you for sharing ❤️

i gave up with the OTT awkward ovulation DTD and the stress. We went on holiday, drank, ate, had a great time, dtd a lot more, relaxed and voilaaaaaa 9 days later I tested positive

PointyMcguire · 14/07/2022 13:45

Pre-seed and the Clearblue digital monitor worked for us. It’s spendy but we fell pregnant the first month we used the monitor (sadly resulted in an early miscarriage) and are now 14wks pregnant a few months later (first month of trying with pre-seed).

We also tried the SMEP method but it was a bit too much like hard work and really took the enjoyment out of things for us, and switched from DTD in the evenings to the morning which worked much better for us and resulted in our current pregnancy.

fairgame84 · 14/07/2022 13:47

Preseed and fert-lily worked for us. We were ttc 14 months with male factor infertility. Got pregnant 1st month of using the fert-lily.

Heretochill · 15/07/2022 14:17

Another vote for a holiday! I’ve got my pre seed arriving today thanks to those kind PPs who have recommended it here… hadn’t heard of the cup before, so think I’ll order that for my following cycle ☺️ It’s honestly another world of gadgets and gizmos!!
