Cycles and AF disappointment

It's my first time posting and I just need someone to vent to.

We've been ttc since November and I knew it'd take a while for my periods and hormones to settle down after coming off the pill but they seemed pretty regular. My cycles have been 31 days followed by a 34 dayer, back to 31,then 34 and so on. I'm not sure why they do this or if this is normal. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a reason?

Anyway, last month I used ovulation sticks for the first time so I know we definitely got timings right this month and I was so hopeful.

I tried not to get too excited during the tww because I didn't want to deal with the disappointment but I couldn't help myself when I was 2 days late for my 34 day cycle. Discussed with my partner and we decided to wait until the weekend before I test. Fast forward a couple of hours, full on cramps and AF arrived 😭

Why is it so much harder to get pregnant than people think? Wish it was straight forward.

I’m in a similar position as you I came off my injection last May, periods returned in Feb this year I’ve had the first couple cycles with a bit ovulation bleeding but then my last 3 cycles have went from 24 days to 23 days to 21 days. I ovulated quite early on most recently according to the clearblue digital ovulation sticks and DTD a few times around my ‘peak’ but unfortunately AF arrived on Saturday.. I’m really confused to and wondering if your phases in your cycle I.e follicular phase and Luteal phase need to be the correct lengths in relation to your cycle in order to fall pregnant ? I’m the same I’m overthinking every little part of this journey and can’t help but obsess over it! Sending love to you x
