Ovulation after miscarriage - so confused!

Hi everyone, hoping for some people who may have found themselves in the same situation & can try & help me work out what’s going on!

i had a miscarriage which started just under 2 weeks ago, was around 6 weeks. Had an early scan which showed no pregnancy in my womb but hcg levels were in the 2000’s around 12 days ago. They dropped significantly in 48 hours & they were in the 70’s on Friday just gone (8th July). Bleeding stopped about 10 days ago.

my pregnancy test this morning was still positive but very, very faint as expected. However, I’ve been getting some ovulation signs so out of interest did an OPK. It wasn’t positive but not far off. Is it remotely possible I could be close to ovulating so soon?

i know OPK’s can be positive when pregnant but this wasn’t the case for me - the one I did when I actually was pregnant was negative so not sure what’s happening!

has anyone had a similar experience? I guess technically if you count the first day of the miscarriage I’d be on day 13 by now, so right sort of time for ovulation. But surely that can’t happen when there has been so much hcg in my system still?

Thanks so much 😊

It took me what felt like ages after my miscarriage for hcg to be low enough to have a period - I think around 5 weeks. If pregnancy tests are still faintly positive I’d imagine no ovulation as yet but everyone’s body is different x

Usually a lurker, but signed up because I think I can help you and I was desperately searching for an answer to the same question two weeks ago and couldn’t find much! On 27th June, I was still testing very, very faintly positive after a mc, but had started to notice my usual ovulation symptoms. Think I ovulated the next day and we tried once on that night and I’ve had a strong bfp this morning (13DPO), so pretty sure I ovulated when I thought and that my cycle was getting back on track despite the hcg not being completely out of my system. So based on my experience, I’d think it’s definitely possible your body is gearing up for ovulation.

Thanks so much to both of you for replying, such different experiences. Sorry to hear you’ve both had miscarriages too.

Huge congratulations @reememberly on your BFP, exciting times. So interesting to hear that it definitely is possible to ovulate with hcg still in your system. We tried yesterday so I guess if I am gearing up for ovulation then I’m covered for a couple of days, might just go for it & see what happens!

@frenchie4002 Thanks so much for sharing your experience too, I’m definitely prepared for it to go either way!
