Hello everyone,

My partner and myself have been trying for a baby for some time with no success. I don’t ovulate every month and we thought this was the issue.

However, my partners SA results came back today. We haven’t spoken to the doctor yet regarding these so could anyone give us any insight please?

I have been looking online and know the results are not good at all.

Your volume, concerntration and vitality (ones that are alive) all look good but it seems that his swimmers aren't moving the way they should and aren't swimming the direction they need to be going. What the results say is that 17% of his sperm are moving, but that could be in any direction, in circles, backways etc, and only 5% are swimming in the right direction through the cervix and towards the egg.

In terms of morphology this is also a low number (you need at least 4%) but with all these analysises the results are subjective and higher counts can counteract other lower results. My partner found that doing 2 semen analysis 2 days apart produced different results. First one was 2% morphology and second one was 4%.

You should push your doctor to get another analysis done quickly so that you can see if these are typical results or just a bad sample which could well be the case.

Anyhow, do not loose hope with this! There are so many supplements he can take that can boost these figures. Our fertility nurse told us my DH needs to take 1000mg vitamin C, 400ui vitamin E, 5mg folic acid, and a conception supplement that contains zinc, magnesium and selenium. I also read that COQ10 is meant to really help so he's started taking that too.

We're having another SA done in 6 weeks so the supplements will have had 3 months to work but fingers crossed they work. I would defo look into getting supplements like these into your DH as a lot of research has proven the results.
