Pcos and clomid

Me and my OH have been ttc since coming off the contraceptive implant in October 2020. We have been desperately trying to get help on the nhs. I have pcos and my bmi is in the overweight category (I have been trying to loose weight). I have seen an endocrinologist and have been taking metformin since June 2021.

This month I finally got my prescription for Clomid and have been started on 100mg. I have had follicle tracking scans. Day 10 the biggest follicle was 6mm and today day 15 the biggest was 9mm. I have been told potentially that clomid isn’t working but to go back for another tracking scan next week to check again.

Has anyone been in a similar position? Is it normal for Pcos sufferers for follicle growth to be slow or am I just being hopeful and should give up for this cycle? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Xx

You might just need a higher dose!
I started on 50mg and had small follicles on my day 10 scan so they upped my dose and I ovulate on cd24 now with a 20-23mm follicle on day 10 xx

That is good to know thanks 😊 what dose did you end up needing to ovulate? I was thinking about asking for a higher dose because from what the nurse was suggesting they would have expected to see much larger follicles by now if it was going to work this cycle.

I'm on 100mg, I think they can go right up to 200mg! Def ask what your options are

When clomid first came out I was given it. Took three months for me to conceive. Years later was told by another GP that many women at that time had multiple births. Because the dosage was so high. Relax it's a miracle drug really that I was given 41 years ago

Letrozole often used instead of clomid too so even if clomid is no good there are other options (letrozole has different mechanisms of action)

Okay this all sounds really positive thanks 😊 it has made me feel a bit better, I’m going to ask about having a higher dose of clomid and ask for a prescription for letrozole if clomid is no good 😊 thanks everyone 🙏
