Hi Guys I need a bit of advice so I am breastfeeding my 17 month old only once at night and once during nap time he eats throughout the day only breastfeeds for comfort to sleep. I still haven’t had a period and I’ve been taking ovulation tests and don’t seem to be ovulating I do want to become pregnant if I take pregnacare before conception do you think it might start things up? Has anyone been in the same situation? Thank you in advance for your advice ❤️

I would say your issue is down to prolactin which is the milk making hormone. When it’s high it can stop you ovulating.

If you want to conceive I don’t think pregnancy vitamins will help if you’re not ovulating. Speak up your GP but I’d imagine you’ll have to wean and then see if your period returns.

I'm in the same situation as you. DD is just over 8 months and we want to start trying again (time is not on our sides) but I'm still bf her and she still eats like a newborn. We started weaning at 25 weeks but she's not really bothered by solids. My periods still haven't returned.

Reading up, a sudden change in bf patterns can help trigger ovulation.

In addition, eating a bit more (nutritious food, obviously) and taking a multivitamin will tell your body that there's enough resources to sustain a pregnancy whilst bf.

Other than that, some women simply don't ovulate whilst they are bf, even just one feed per day.

You might have to decide if bf or ttc is more important
