6 weeks after a miscarriage

I'm not sure if this is the right thread but I tested today using a 25 miu/ml test and it came back positive. Could this be a new pregnancy?

My HCG levels were showing 'not pregnant' not long after the miscarriage. I've been feeling a bit nauseous and my sense of smell is strong. I get these both just before period or if I'm pregnant so now I'm just confused.

It also sounds ridiculous but I've read the leaflet that came with the test and it mentions that hcg levels can rise with certain types of cancer so I'm now petrified my hcg is up because of that.

Long story short, has anyone else gotten pregnant soon after a miscarriage?

Yes, in fact I did in less time. Good luck with it if it is, as I suspect, a new pregnancy.

Sorry for your recent loss and here is hoping there are happier times for you to look forward to.

I had a miscarriage 6 weeks ago and I’m currently 6 weeks pregnant! I think it’s fairly common, certainly much more common that other causes of raised hcg. I had a scan as I’ve had a previous ectopic which confirmed it last week. I presume you’ve not had a period yet?

I had a miscarriage at the end of January 2021 and I never got my period but got negative test results and bloods.

I then took a test on the 26th of February and I was pregnant again, and I'm now sat here with my little 7 month old baby boy.

I'm sorry you went through a miscarriage it's truely awful💖

It is possible, especially if you had negative pregnancy tests after the miscarriage, and then have now had a positive. If your miscarriage was quite early on, then hcg levels will generally drop quicker than if the pregnancy had been lost at a later stage. E.g. I had positive tests for 10 days after my miscarriage at 6 weeks.

No period, I've been waiting for it I guess for the last 2 weeks or so.

Thank you both, I'm a bit shocked right now to be honest (I dropped and smashed a plate full of DH's dinner earlier, just after I'd done the test!).

I hope all is going well with you both now x

Regarding the cancer part, they may be referring to a molar pregnancy, which is usually diagnosed much later and hcg levels monitored more closely

Thank you @ljdxxx 💙

@USaYwHatNow It was early I think, confirmed by falling hcg although I never actually did another test until today.

I shall do a few more tests (even though the +ve came up fairly strong) and try and gather myself to tell DH.

I see, thanks @USaYwHatNow I've never seen it mentioned before so it worried me ever so slightly.

Hi, just a little update. I did a CB digital this morning and it came up 2-3 weeks pregnant. As for dating, will they use the date of the miscarriage as LMP? That makes me around 5 weeks. Just wondering what happened with others who have experienced similar. Thanks x
