Strange timeline - BFP?

Hi all,

I’m on day 69 since my last period.

I took an OPK last Monday and it was positive….I have PCOS so do ovulate at random times, plus cycles are never regular. Never has an OPK as dark as that one before.

Then today, one step strip HCG test looks like this with FMU!

Any ideas?

I’ve been getting faint positives on and off for around 6 weeks, but it’s so on and off that I’m not convinced I’m pregnant. The GP keeps saying ‘a line is a line’ but the digis are negative, and now an OPK is saying I’ve ovulated?!

would love anyone’s stories of PCOS pregnancy or just some fresh opinions on this!

Have you tried any other tests?

If you have been getting positives on and off for 6 weeks I would expect it to be darker by now and pick up on a digi at least.

With PCOS you can have multiple LH surges, and even a positive OPK doesn't guarantee you will ovulate.

Do you temp? I found this useful to confirm ovulation.

Also, OPKs do pick up the pregnancy hormone. Have you been doing them regularly or just sporadically? If you are using cheap sticks I would be tempted to get a first response. Doesn't really explain the negative digital though.

Would your GP refer you for bloods or a scan?

mrst2021 · 27/06/2022 15:52

Hi Katy,

Thanks for replying.

Yes, and temp confirms ovulation according to my acupuncturist - she’s amazing.

Have been using OPKs sporadically, as wasn’t sure if I was pregnant so didn’t think I needed to track.

Done another one step strip this PM and faint line again.

Thinking if I test in the morning, and it’s consistent, might be inclined to believe I might be pg!

Got an internal ultrasound for Saturday anyway, as it was booked yonks ago for general gynae check up.

Ugh, I so hope 🤞🤞

You could have ovulated Sunday and the OPK still show up positive on the Monday, making you 8DPO. I had the faintest positive at 9dpo, so not out of the realms of possibility.

Good luck!

FridayNightWines · 27/06/2022 15:56

Sorry, just reading again, have you been getting positive pregnancy tests for weeks now? Or positive OPKs?

RoundaboutRacer · 27/06/2022 16:05

That test is definitely one I'd consider positive.

Maybe try a frer tomorrow? X

loopshot · 27/06/2022 16:10

I'd try a free

loopshot · 27/06/2022 16:10

*frer

KatySp · 27/06/2022 16:17

@mrst2021 I hope the scan gives you some good news. Please come and update us if you want cos this is baffling.

As a side note, do you recommend acupuncture? What do they do? Do you have to take clothes off? Been at this for 2 years now and I'm exploring other options

mrst2021 · 27/06/2022 16:20

Hi Katy,

Yes will keep you in the loop.

RE the acupuncture, it’s amazing. I hadn’t had a cycle in 2 years, and four days after I had my first session, AF arrived!

I don’t know about other practices, but my lady just needs from elbows and knees down, and it’s all connected.

It doesn’t hurt, and actually feels really soothing. My lady does aromatherapy at the same time too, and we do some meditation. It feels like self care!

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies.

Yes, faintly positive PG tests for about 6 weeks.

Very strange, and also no period.

Will keep you all posted.

@mrst2021 feel like I could have written this post myself! In the same boat with PCOS and irregular cycles- have had a few weeks of inconsistent tests/ faint lines followed by negatives etc. got blood taken today so will see what happens- I’m pretty confident I’m not pregnant as i should be getting consistent positive results by now but will be nice to have it confirmed as the tests just mess with your head! Good luck op 🤞

mrst2021 · 28/06/2022 05:25

Hi @TTCX2! So good to hear it’s not just me going mad!

I know, it’s heartbreaking really, and my way of coping is just telling myself that I’m not pregnant.

So difficult when to anyone else, these would be BFP tests!

If you had a peak opk last Monday - you'd likely only be 6-7dpo? It's way too early. Wait a couple of days to test with a frer?

FridayNightWines · 28/06/2022 13:08

I'd stop testing on these tests to be honest, if they've been inconsistent for months.

Maybe go buy a couple of FRERs and use them.

UPDATE: Here is this morning…

First one was about an hour ago, second one was just now.

I've got 3 x frer positives, 2 x CB positives and 10 of these little strips all show negative. Don't buy them, they're rubbish

RoundaboutRacer · 28/06/2022 16:03

Really do go and get some FRERS. Save driving yourself mad with these cheapies. X

After trawling threads I can’t find this situation…!

Sunday 26th 13 DPO. Positive at home. Didn’t take photo binned it!😬
Monday 27th 14DPO. Positive at home.

Tuesday 28th 15DPO. I had a doc appt this PM (unrelated) and asked for a test, the doc came back and said my test was negative, not a faint, not a maybe. 100% negative. I didn’t clap my eyes on the docs test, but she won’t have likely made a mistake. I declined the blood test (regretting that now!)

I tested again at home Tues PM to see the negative myself. And it was friggin positive. But definitely faint.

So feels like the writing is on the wall. So now in limbo waiting for the bleed….😫

Not needing words of comfort necessarily. Think it’s not viable. Will update this post. WHAT. A. ROLLERCOASTER.

All I can say is I understand and I'm literally going through the exact same as you. Sending lots of love xx (even though you've said don't Football)

Hi Victoria,
So sorry to hear you're on this rollercoaster too. It is such a mind f*&k.
I did another test this morning as no AF, and it is still showing BFP.
I'm hoping the docs either made a mistake/use less sensitive tests.
Sending you luck, and hugs xoxo

VictoriaBlossom · 01/07/2022 20:13

Hi @VictoriaBlossom thanks for checking in.
Shit week last week, with all the worry. But - good news! My blood tests have confirmed my hcg is rising appropriately - so no reason to be concerned right now. Next stop ultrasound....2ish weeks

bcmumma · 04/07/2022 18:38

@VictoriaBlossom any update from your end?

Wowwwwwwww oh my god that's amazing news. Sending you the best vibes I can my lovely!

I have had zero symptoms, no bleeding but Wednesday I had that daft 24hr bug that's been "going around" and that completely knocked me out.
I have a headache but don't know what that's linked to.
This is my second pregnancy in 3 months. (Second pregnancy ever too as I don't have kids and have never tried)

I have an ultrasound on Thursday, but I peed on an internet cheapy 25miu and it was still negative this morning. 10mius still showing positive

What happens if you do a pregnancy test? Are you getting a strong or faint line?
