Where is my peak?!

Hi everyone,

I've tracked my cycle on the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor for the last 6 or so months but the sticks were getting too expensive so instead, I've bought some cheaper ones off Amazon that I see a lot of people use.
This is my first cycle using them and on Wednesday I could see the line getting darker but not as dark as a positive. Then ever since it's just got lighter and lighter?!
Has anyone else had this? I really thought I was onto a winner on Wednesday but it looks like it's going backwards now.
My period was a week late last month which never happens so I don't know if that has anything to do with it?
I'm confused how I can have a fairly dark line one day but the next it's really faint.
Yesterday I downloaded got the Pre-Mom app where you upload photos of the OPKs and it says 'low' by the side off my last 2 tests🙈my darkest test wasn't a positive compared to the positive tests I've seen on here.
Has anyone had anything like this before themselves?

You may have had a short surge which is completely normal. On mine I was low in the morning then a really good peak in early evening and low again next morning. If I hadn’t done the evening one I would have missed it. The cycle before I did miss it as it happened overnight as I had a high result in the evening and then high next morning then but afternoon low again. You may have just missed it

Welcome to the world of OPK confusion lol. I normally get really clear and consistent results, but this month I’ve had positives at lunchtime followed by negs in the early evening, every day for about 4 days 🤪 I’ve been posting on here like mad trying to work out what is happening! What cycle day are you? How long are your cycles and when do you ovulate normally?

shellybon · 25/06/2022 21:49

Thanks for your replies ladies. I'm normally textbook 28 day cycle and peak day on day 14. The more I do these OPKs the more they baffle me🙈Do you think it's been and gone for this month then?

To answer your question I'm cycle day 15 today so yesterday would of been my peak day normally but obviously my body had other ideas🥴

I tested Wednesday morning and got a darkish line although definitely not a positive...I wonder if I had tested on Wednesday night it may have been a positive then🤷🏼‍♀️who knows. Looks like it's onto next month for me🙈

It could definitely be that’s it’s already happened or might not have there’s no way to know unless you keep testing. The 2 cycles I’ve opk the first one I kept going until AF so knew I must have missed it overnight between my 2 high results and this cycle it was very obvious as I caught it but it was still a short surge and I could easily have missed it

shellybon · 25/06/2022 22:10

I think I'll carry on testing for a week or so then just to make sure it doesn't come abit later than usual but I won't get my hopes up. Thanks for the info re short surge. I've actually not heard of it even though I would of put money on me reading everything on the internet about ovulation. You learn something new everyday eh🤣

Unless you’ve been ill/stressed etc then I would assume so (just a guess though). The amount of time between ovulation and your period starting is pretty fixed from what I’ve read, it’s the bit before ovulation that varies and can make your cycle longer or shorter. So if your period starts later than usual then it means you’ve ovulated later, that might give you a clue further down the line.

Here are my tests from CD9 and CD10, I assume that’s when I ovulated but I just had the distinctive ovulation pain a couple of hours ago so we dtd just to cover the bases 🥱 I’ve had random positives since these, but not quite as dark, more same colour if you see what I mean.

Yes your tests look a good positive to me. Mine was nowhere as near as dark as those but I guess if I had tested 12 hours later it may well have been?

Hopefully it will all be abit clearer for me next month🤷🏼‍♀️🥴

Do you temp? I'm just reading up on it now and wondering if it's worth a try

I’ve never temped and I’m trying to avoid it if I’m honest - I feel it will give me new things to obsess over! I’m hoping if no BFP then next cycle will go back to normal and I can chalk this one up to a weird month. That said lots of posters say temping is more accurate than opks so maybe its better!

shellybon · 25/06/2022 22:42

Yes I know what you mean about it being another obsession but give me a week and I'll probably have the thermometer on order🤣

Fingers crossed for a BFP for you this month aswel🤞🏼
