Pcos & Metformin

Hi 😁
myself & my partner have been trying to conceive for 2 years. I’ve recently been diagnosed with PCOS- had all the blood work, external & internal tests.

I’ve been prescribed metformin a week ago - 2 tablets twice a day.
has anyone had any success with metformin?
how long did it take for you to get your period back?

last question 🙈 can you take myo inositol with the metformin?

thank you in advance 😁

Hello!

I was diagnosed initially by my gp last year and out on 1000mg/day and although this made my cycle a little more regular (reduced length by a couple of days each month....it took a consultant upping me to 1500mg for me to ovulate normally and bam I was pregnant the next month 😀😀😀 so give yourself a few months on that dose and if it's not happening push for an increase.

Consultant also recommended inositol whilst taking it so yes take both!

Good luck 😀😀😀😀

I've taken metformin when I hadn't ovulated for months and it got me ovulating 3 times. I used to stop metformin once I ovulated. First time I got my period after 3 weeks, second 2 times I got pregnant but I ovulated after about 7-10 days.

I take metformin and myo + D-Chiro inositol now and I have regular 28 day cycles. Not sure if it's the metformin or inositol.

Would definitely recommend taking inositol. I found it had far less side effects

I took metformin alone. After 5 years of ttc. I had pcos and was not eligible for fertility treatment as my husband already had a daughter. I persuaded my Dr to let me try metformin. I was pregnant within 6 months and my periods were regular almost straight away. I will add that my periods did become quite heavy, I remember the two periods before I conceived were extremely heavy and painful, I wondered later if they could have been early miscarriages though.
Was wonderful for me I have 3 dc now, all came along like buses.
Good luck I hope it works for you! 🍀🤞

Metformin didn't work for me & I had laparoscopy which worked well as I got pregnant almost straight away.

I had nothing for a month on 500mg and 1000mg but once I upped it to 1500mg I ovulated pretty much exactly a month after that and have had regular cycles since! Taking it alongside inositol and have had no issues so far!
