If you want to temp to confirm ovulation or pregnant you need to use a basal body thermometer and take your temperature as soon as you wake before moving around (no popping to the loo etc).
If you are taking your temp throughout your cycle, after ovulation your temperature rises slightly and stays risen if you are pregnant. If you are not pregnant it will start to drop as you get your period.
I temp and before ovulation mine is below 36.40 and after is around 36.60-36.80. It's such a slight increase you wouldn't notice it yourself unless you use a BBT thermometer.
You also need to compare temperatures from before ovulation since you need to see the temperature shift.
Having a one off temp at 39 doesn't really mean much unless you have other temperatures to compare it too and does seem pretty high.
When was this temp taken? If it's not first thing in the morning then it's not reliable
Your temp increases due to progesterone which is present when you ovulate regardless of if you are pregnant or not. If you don't get pregnant then progesterone declines and your temps drop. For me, my temp doesn't fully drop until day 2 of my period. The only way you try to confirm pregnancy is if your temp is high 14+ days after you ovulate in which case a pregnancy test would be a more reliable way of telling you if you are pregnant.
Tbh, 39 just suggests you might be unwell
