Short cycle ladies!

Would anyone be interested in a short cycle ttc thread, or just short cycle chat in general?

My cycles range from 25-29 days but usually 26 or 27. Period starts 15 days after ovulation like clockwork. Got a positive OPK today on CD9, assuming I will ovulate CD10 and this one will be 25 days. I’m worried this is too short, although I recall worrying about the same thing before conceiving my now 2 year old - so assuming this is normal ‘for me’.

interested to hear from others😊

@Wouldloveanother hey!! My cycles are on the shorter side and range between 25-27 days! Anything less than 21 days is considered abnormal so you are totally normal!! I think you are right if you gif your peak CD9 then you are likely to ovulate on day 10. I got my peak Monday on day 10 & ovulated yesterday literally 24 hours after I got my peak!!

As long as your luteal phase isn't short it's not an issue. X

allgoodthings84 · 22/06/2022 22:14

I have a 26/27 day cycle too. Very occasionally a day out from these but rarely.

i got a positive opk on CD11 this cycle so if I ovulated CD12 then I’ve likely got a 26 day cycle this month based on when I’m due on

your LP is normal which I think is the most important

I think 11 plus days is considered optimal so you are only a day out of that... do you defo ovulate for sure on those days? X

Wouldloveanother · 23/06/2022 08:47

Hi ladies, interesting to read of your experiences! I remembered yesterday that I got my BFP for my 2 year old on CD21, and it was quite strong - I probably could’ve taken it a day or two before and got a clear positive. So maybe I’m just an early ovulator! Are you both ttc? How are you finding it?

OP posts:
Angie2018 · 23/06/2022 13:21

@Wouldloveanother Hey!! You may have ovulated early or implanted early!! You could have ovulated on day 9, and implanted 7/8dpo & been about 4/5 days past implantation for the hormone to be very present!!

Also depends on individual hormone levels too.

I am actively TTC and have been since early feb this year. We haven't had an easy ride really, we've had a really tough year and I think it's contributed to not betting our BFP yet. Cycle 1 we had just got a new puppy and we're up literally twice a night for the whole month toilet training, we're so tired and had just started vitamins and weren't eating great, cycle 2 I started bleeding after DTD and had treatment for a cervical erosion which is all fine now but I remember we didn't DTD enough and I was so worried something was wrong it didn't go to plan. Cycle 3 we caught Covid BAD!! Both of us were absolutely sick for like 2-3 weeks and I found out it affects male and female fertility for up to 3 months and it reduces sperm count and quality immensely, I had cycle 3 & 4 a bit wonky whilst Covid left my body, it changed ovulation to late then early etc, cycle 5 last month I had a chemical pregnancy 🙄 and so here we are 2dpo cycle 6 hoping desperately for that BFP!!

I feel ok to be honest, I know we've not had a smoothe run of trying and after last month I know our normal fertility resumed as we did conceive so I just hope the right egg was released this month.

We did the SMEP plan this month and everything seemed to go to plan, had extra acupuncture, eating well, less stressed etc... so I am hopeful!

What about you? How are you feeling? How long have you been trying for? X

Wouldloveanother · 23/06/2022 13:29

Angie that sounds like a nightmare! We too have a puppy (well, young dog now) so I understand how you feel. I also had covid a couple of months ago, so we skipped ttc that month, and last month we didn’t ttc for various other reasons. Here’s hoping things settle down for you and you get a BFP very soon! This is month 1 ttc for me. I was extremely lucky in that we conceived our DC first try last time, I hope I don’t over analyse it if that doesn’t happen again. It’s all a numbers game really! When are you due to test? Or will you wait for missed period?

OP posts:
Angie2018 · 23/06/2022 13:45

@Wouldloveanother yeah it's been a right pain!! So I am kinda counting this month as month 1 again as we conceived last month. Otherwise it's so hard to get worried about the time it takes.

Ah I hope you get your BFP too this month!!

My app is saying 4th july now as I ovulated early so I will test in 7 days unless I know AF is coming. I normally know for sure. My cervix is always so low just before AF & I have normal PMS symptoms. Last cycle I had none of those symptoms, squishy high cervix, very apparent implantation symptoms and also I was bloody boiling! So I knew then AF wasn't coming (until it ended in a chemical). I know my body quite well so I suspect il know in a few days if my normal sore boobs after ovulation don't come. I had no sore boobs last cycle which was the earliest change for me. I usually get sore boobs about 2/3 days after ovulation. I bloody hope it happens this month! Hoping you also have an easy ride with this one xx

Wouldloveanother · 23/06/2022 15:24

I’ve never checked my cervix - I’m a bit too squeamish to be honest! It would be great if we got our BFPs - make sure you check back and let me know xx

OP posts:
Angie2018 · 23/06/2022 15:47

@Wouldloveanother fingers crossed we do!! Will defo check back in and likewise with you if you get any symptoms!! Checking cervix is easy and is a big giveaway xx

Lollywhite · 15/07/2022 16:54

Hi all.. I generally have a low cycle to last three being 24, 23 then 21! Last month a got my positive OPK on CD 9 then unfortunately AF arrived earlier than expected on what would have been CD 22 :(

does anyone know if cycles and follicular/luteal phases vary cycle to cycle? I’m now currently on CD7 hoping for a better month!!

xxx

Wouldloveanother · 15/07/2022 17:01

From what I’ve read, luteal phase doesn’t really vary - I’ve noticed my period always turns up exactly 15 days after my darkest OPK. It’s the follicular stage which varies - ovulation was ask CD9 for me last cycle, but is usually 11-13 days. I’m CD8 now, no positive OPK yet and hoping it hangs on a bit longer. How old are you if you don’t mind me asking? Are you ttc?

OP posts:
Lollywhite · 15/07/2022 17:16

Oh really, yeah I am TTC my second, I was always on the injection from 19 year and came off briefly and managed to conceive DC1 on my second cycle when periods returned. This time I came off injection May 2021 and my periods have only resumed from February. I’m 27 now and have been tracking my cycles/ovulation since on Flo.. We started TTC last month which I know is still early but have consulted with GP as I was often getting ovulation bleeding too, she advised my ovaries were in overdrive so not quite sure what she means by that but things have since calmed down abit just concerned about my cycle lengths and luteal phases!

Looking back at my last cycle my luteal phase was 12 days!

ive had no positive OPK’s yet this month as on CD7 and have just started attempting to track my BBT too (just a beginner lol)

let me know how u get on xx

Wouldloveanother · 15/07/2022 17:46

We’re basically in same position although I’m a couple of years older - one DC1 conceived quickly, ttc number 2, shortening cycles! Will stick around and let you know how it goes.

Lollywhite · 15/07/2022 18:09

Oh yeah let me know how u get on! Xx

FirstTimeTryer93 · 15/07/2022 18:30

I also got a positive OPK on CD9. I have 24 day cycles. I got my BFP this month at 9dpo so don't worry about ovulating early, anything is possible :) xxx

Lollywhite · 16/07/2022 10:15

@FirstTimeTryer93 aww that’s amazing .. I know fingers crossed! Xxx

winterfox78 · 16/07/2022 14:12

Hoping to join...TTC number 2....
Cycles are 24/24 on average.
Using OPK's , hit a positive on Day 9 and 10 so I assume I ovulate after that...

Been trying for about 5 months now..,,

Wouldloveanother · 16/07/2022 14:15

Hi winter! I hear so much about long or irregular cycles but regular-ish short ones don’t get mentioned much. I conceived my daughter on what I think was CD9/10 - an early scan put me 5 days ahead, and I’m given to believe very early scans are quite accurate. So, it didn’t seem to affect things last time 🤞🏻
here’s hoping for us both! How long have you been ttc? Do you have any kids or trying for a first?

WolfMother326 · 16/07/2022 15:27

Just stopping by to offer a hopeful story. I had 23-25 day cycles and would ovulate on days 7-9 of cycle depending. Turn 14 days till period. I was so worried I couldn't get pregnant. After trying for 9 months I was lucky and now have a lovely boy. Cycles are now 28-29 days (apparently pregnancy can help reset hormones). I took vitex/agnus castus and I'm not sure if that helped. Good luck xx

WolfMother326 · 16/07/2022 15:29

One other thing that worked was just having sex every other or every third day rather than trying fertile window. I think we did it on day 6 the month I conceived!

Wouldloveanother · 16/07/2022 15:33

Thank you Wolf! CD9 and no positive OPK yet so thinking it will be day 11/12 as usual. I was going to SMEP this month, but depends if I have the energy! Otherwise every other day plus fertilily will have to do!

Hi All!

Thought I'd reply... my cycles are between 22-25 days 🙈 and I'm TTC as soon as Auntie Flo has gone! Does having a shorter cycle effect the chances of falling pregnant??
