How long to conceive 2nd child?

I know it's kinda random when it happens. But how long did it take you to conceive your second child compared to your first? As in actively trying (timing around ovulation, etc)

It took us 7 months to conceive DD (I was 38), and 10 months to conceive this current pregnancy (I'm now 41).

My first took a year. Second was a happy accident. There's very little normal for this.

Daffodilsdance · 21/06/2022 18:56

2 years

stormelf · 21/06/2022 19:04

First took four years. Second took a year. Third took two months

First was a happy accident, I was off my pill 4-5 months when it happened. I think I only began ovulating the last 2 (based on migraines I get the week before). I’d been on my pill for 15 years or more. 2nd pregnancy happened 3 months off the pill, cycle came back immediately.

MassiveSalad22 · 22/06/2022 04:05

First was one time on holiday, second took 1 month, third took 2 months (had covid jab in first month so was a bit off!). Very lucky.

My sister’s first took 2 years, was just about to start clomid. Her second took 1 month.

Meredusoleil · 22/06/2022 04:46

5 months for dd2 (with only 1 ovary mind) and 1 month for dd1.

SecondhandTable · 22/06/2022 05:42

4 months for DC1 and 5 months for DC2. So about the same. My cycle was longer and more regular by the time I was TTC my second as well but it didn't make any difference.

YappyDog · 22/06/2022 05:58

There are so many elements to this - age, fertility health issues (that you might not even be aware of), how often and when you have sex, luck etc - that you won’t ge any answers for yourself. But my experience:

At 27 - DC1 - got pregnant first month of trying
At 30 got pregnant 3rd month of trying but had an early miscarriage
At 30 - DC2 - pregnant 2nd month of trying
At 36 - one night of too much wine and sloppy condom use!

TokyoSushi · 22/06/2022 06:19

About 10 minutes. 4 months for DC1 though.

Sienna9522 · 23/06/2022 01:42

1st child - age 25 - 3rd cycle
2nd child - age 30 - 1st cycle

MolliciousIntent · 23/06/2022 01:43

2 cycles for DD1, one cycle for dd2

DramaAlpaca · 23/06/2022 02:34

First time of trying, after trying for 11 months for DC1. Was in total shock, tbh. I was breastfeeding as well. Certainly didn't expect a 16 month age gap!

frozenorangejuice · 23/06/2022 02:39

First time, both times.

Squishybean · 23/06/2022 07:54

About 3 months with #2 although I was still breastfeeding and my cycles were no where near regular

Amyrosa · 23/06/2022 13:28

as soon as my periods came back whilst breastfeeding, so probably not an answer you were looking for but he wasnt planned at all.

first took 3 months, I really dont think there is any rhyme or reason behind it.

Hopesanddreams2887 · 23/06/2022 15:10

My daughter was the first Month, my second my son was a year! X

Moonshine160 · 23/06/2022 15:26

1st pregnancy - 1 cycle.
