Hello,

My partner has just tested positive for Covid and according to my apps I will be in my fertile window in 3 days time. Does anyone have any experience with how covid might affect conception from a male fertility point of view but also how it may affect me if I catch it in the next couple of days.

I understand its hard to tell what may or may not affect conception but there are so many different things on the internet I was wondering if anyone had any actual experience!

I don't think enough research has been done in this area for anyone to give you guidance on a possible outcome sorry, Covid is so new, they are just still working on the vaccine, not possible sperm mutation due to Covid if that makes sense.

I doubt it would affect anything to be honest, well, maybe your desire to DTD in the next week! I would say just crack on if you're both feeling ok.

@Mays12 sorry to be a downer but if you Google Covid and male fertility there is loads of info on it. It affected us for atleast 2-3 months after me and my partner had it. It's worse on sperm and can take up to 3 months to get out of their system. I had no idea at the time, Googled it and all the info was there. My Gynae, acupuncturist and doctor also said the same not to expect anything for a while post Covid 😞 x

@Mays12 also it messed with my cycles too when I got it. First month ovulation was 4 days late and delayed my period as well, second month I ovulated early and got period early, 3rd month which was the cycle just gone we got pregnant but it was a chemical x

I have just been in a very similar situation. We actually both tested positive for covid a few days before my last fertile window with mild symptoms. All was fine and I got a positive pregnancy test yesterday!

You must have been very lucky! We did have horrendous symptoms though so I think that makes a huge difference as the body's immune system is having to fight so hard!

I must have been - honestly I didn’t even consider covid could have been an issue!

Angie2018 · 21/06/2022 12:07

@ilovefood643 you defo we're lucky! I had no idea epithet until my gynae said don't be surprised if Covid affects it for a while. I then googled it and saw the whopping studies and it was true for us. But I have to say we had it so badly that I suspect that was a lot to do with it. If it's not causing you too much bother I can imagine it would be ok!

The COVID vaccine messed up my cycles and caused mid cycle bleeding too. It wouldn't surprise me if it messed up conception a bit too. My husband still blames the vaccine for the two early miscarriages I've had 🤷🏼‍♀️ hard to know really isn't it.
