Covid in the TWW

Has anyone had Covid in the TWW and managed to get pregnant?

Covid hit 2 days after ovulation with bad cold symptoms (no fever). Just wondering if there's any point getting my hopes up this month or not?

@FoamRoller I had Covid at the end of my TWW in my second cycle and at that point I knew period was coming so defo didn't affect that cycle but it affected the next two to three cycles and moved ovulation late then early and periods followed. I still ovulated though but I was told that Covid can affect fertility massively especially men for sometimes up to 3 months 😞 mine defo was about 2 months but it's all ok now. Be hopeful as it's still possible but I read that the reaction your body goes through to getting rid of a virus can really hinder it 😰 don't mean to be negative just wish I'd known this a few months ago so I was so down and disappointed as to why I wasn't conceiving for a couple of months x

@Angie2018 Thank you for sharing, it's really useful to know where to set your expectations! Thankfully my partner hasn't caught it off me yet but there's probably still time as it's only day 4. I'd definitely rather know these things and be prepared so don't worry about being negative!

Interestingly I've just looked at my cycle last time I had Covid and nothing changed but that was completely asymptomatic so probably a different ball game. This whole TTC thing is much harder than they make out at school!

@FoamRoller that's ok! I definitely wasn't aware of what Covid could do and did get so disappointed for a couple of months. It's much nicer to have realistic expectations then be super surprised to get a BFP. It is more vital for the male to not catch it so you may be fine after if he doesn't catch it! Unfortunately both me and my partner had it BAD! So if you have it mildly you may find nothing changes. Fingers crossed nothing changes for you!!

Angie2018 · 18/06/2022 13:27

@FoamRoller ps - yes it's so much harder to get pregnant than you realise! It's hard!!

Just in case anyone finds this thread later asking the same question, we did get pregnant this cycle!

It's currently very early on but clearly covid didn't totally rule us out! ☺️☺️☺️

@FoamRoller you've given me so much hope just incase I get it again! I am so glad for you! How were your symptoms if you don't mind me asking? Me and my other half had it so bad we were wiped out for almost a month !!

FoamRoller · 25/06/2022 16:28

@Angie2018
My symptoms weren't lovely, but more wiped out for a week than a month. I didn't have a fever but pretty much everything else - sore throat, cough, fatigue, headaches, joint aches, blocked nose etc. Definitely the most ill I can remember feeling since having horrendous tonsillitis as a child!

@FoamRoller yea Covid is vile isn't it!! I am so happy for you that you still got your BFP!! Did your partner have it??

Omgosh! I came on here today to look for this exact post. I tested positive for covid yesterday during my tww. I’m so nervous to see if it’s going to affect me this cycle. We are currently on a medicated cycle in hopes of trying to conceive this month. This post gave me some hope!!

octoberfarm · 26/06/2022 01:00

I had the flu (badly) when I was in the 2ww for DS2 and was adamant I wouldn't get a positive test, but I did! He is now an exceptionally robust 3yo Grin Congratulations!!

Starsinthesky22 · 06/07/2022 13:49

@FoamRoller Very interesting! I am so pleased you got a BFP! I just came back to find this post as I’ve tested positive for covid on CD23 and wondered what others experiences were. It’s funny I actually said the same thing to someone the other day… in school you’re basically taught have sex once and that’s it pregnant!!! Couldn’t be further from the truth!!!🙈

Have any of you managed to conceive shortly after your partner had covid? I just saw a comment in this thread that it can affect male fertility in the short term. I’m really hoping not, I don’t want to lose months of trying. My DH has just caught covid before I ovulate. I think we are out for this cycle but I really hope it’s very short term affects.

FoamRoller · 07/07/2022 08:27

Sorry just seen the replies.

Only I caught covid in my house (no idea how as we didn't stay separate at all!). When I was researching most of the things I did find was relating to male fertility and the affects on sperm for up to 3 months. It doesn't seem a very well researched avenue yet though so not sure much is known unfortunately 🙁

Hope you all get your BFP soon

In case anyone comes back to read…just an update re having Covid in TWW - tested positive for Covid CD 23 (symptoms started on CD 21 and I have felt awful with it fever, bad chest etc) and today had a BFP (CD24). Usually have a 27/28 day cycle. I’ve read about people experiencing colds/flu before getting a BFP due to lower levels of immunity. I just hope Covid/fever doesn’t effect the development of the baby in anyway.

Came across this post as currently have covid in TWW trying for second. But to give hope to those that may stumble across this post with our first we both had covid the week before we started trying and we still successfully conceived so didn’t impact me or my partner in previous cycles.
