Tww after ectopic pregnancy

Hi ladies,

Just a bit of back ground from me. I have a nearly three year old who was conceived via ivf. We spent 5 years trying for our little man.

Last May I had an ectopic pregnancy - first ever natural pregnancy. I found out around mid May and was around 8/9 weeks I think. We wasn't trying at the time but wasn't using protection as assumed it wasn't possible. The period I was due to have at the beginning of April still happened but lasted longer - 7 days rather than the normal 4-5. Then the May period still also went ahead but was lighter and lasted two days. I ruptured and then a blood clot formed over the rupture and my stomach was slowing forming with blood. I only found out on the Friday I was pregnant but didn't have any of the usual signs I had before apart from bad cramps but they were sharp rather than pulling. I also knew that I hadn't had sex the last month so would of been more far along then I was to not feel anything. I went to a&e as I thought I had a missed miscarriage (had one with my first round of ivf at 12 weeks) but turned out it was ectopic. They were very surprised I wasn't in a lot more pain apart from the cramps I was feeling. Any how I had surgery and one of my tubes was removed the other one was undamaged and clear

We are starting to try again for a second baby and before going back to ivf we thought we would try naturally for a few months. This month I am getting quite strong, sharp cramping on my right side. After having an ectopic pregnancy I have a higher than usual chance of having one again. Would anyone mind letting me know what symptoms you had and when they started? I'm going crazy that I may have it again but don't know what to look out for and I'm scared of rupturing again if it's not caught in time.

Thank you for reading my life story if you have got this far x

Hi.

I had my second ectopic pregnancy removed last week. No tubes left. I’m sorry you’re worried.

My symptoms this time: absolutely none.

BUT I had an entirely “normal”, five day “period” at the time it was due. I didn’t rest until two weeks later when I thought it was weird I felt nauseous instead of as if I was ovulating.

Luckily I insisted on a private scan, as EPU wouldn’t scan me for a full week after I was referred. I would’ve been ruptured by then.

By the time I was in hospital, diagnosed and waiting for surgery, I did feel a bit “full” on the left side and conscious of it, but not at all painful and it was probably psychosomatic as I was scared on rupturing.

Go to your local EPU and get a scan, if you’ve had a positive test.

^test, not rest.

Gosh I'm so sorry that you have just recently been through the awful experience. If your still experiencing the nerve pain after the surgery peppermint tea or the capsules if you can get hold of them really helped me. Are you planning to take some time out and maybe consider maybe ivf?

I had a similar experience at Epu. They were going to ask me to come back later that week for a scan. And I said no. I don't know how far along I am I could be 9 or 13 weeks. I can't leave this hospital knowing I'm pregnant but unsure if it's viable it will cost me too much in my mental health. Luckily they listened to me and found out it was ectopic. The surgeon even said to me I was really lucky and good on me for insisting as it could of been fatal.

I haven't received a positive test yet so I don't think it is. I am 10dpo a cheapie is showing negative but the cramps are quite painful unlike the dulls one I normally experience before af. This morning I had such a sharp pain go through my right side me that I split a hot cup of tea over my legs.

I’m not sure an ectopic would give you shooting pains so early? But keep an eye on it.

That’s what my rational brain is saying too.

I had an ectopic last year and I am now just over 5 weeks pregnant.

The differences I have found are no period this time (like you, i had an 8 day period when it was due so didn't know i was pregnant) and darker lines on pregnancy tests. They are darker now that when I found out at 6 weeks with my ectopic.

I'm yet to have my scan but am feeling positive that it's in the right place at least this time 🤞🤞

Good luck on your journey x

Oh and I think the cramps have been worse early on this time! I cant be sure because I didn't know I was pregnant last time but the stronger ectopic cramps only kicked in about 6.5 weeks
