Cycle Day 6 for me today, and day 3 of taking letrozole. It's my first time taking letrozole and I don't want to get my hopes too early. We've been ttc for over a year now, and with our wedding being next July. I don't know how much longer we will continue trying before we decide on taking a break until after the wedding.

Has anyone been so lucky to get pregnant on their first cycle taking letrozole?
Also, any weird side effects that you experienced?

Good luck! I know someone who got pregnant on their first cycle - it took 3 for me but i ovulated on 2 out of 3 so i think we were just unlucky it didn't happen sooner. After the provera, i actually found the letrozole very easy to tolerate 🥴😂

Are you being monitored / scanned as well? With my first cycle, they scanned me so picked up straight away that it hadn't worked and i needed a higher dose. Saved loads of faffing about and worry that it wasn't working!

@AnotherNC22 Thank you! I am excited but nervous to see what happens this cycle. Oh wow, I would be surprised if it happened for us on our first cycle.
Yeah so far I haven't felt any weird side affects yet from the letrozole.

Yes, we are being monitored! I have my scan on 14th of this month, and afterwards I am suppose to take that trigger shot (I think that's what it is referred to) so fingers crossed that we hear good news at our scan!

@Lexxa also on my first cycle 😊 do you have PCOS or any other reason why it hasn't happened yet?

I had my scan on CD12 and was a while off ovulating, had another scan on CD17 and had two follicles. No trigger shot for me, just DTD.

We have unexplained infertility so it's a last resort for us until we have to go down the IVF route. I had some light headaches while taking letrozole but that was it.

Good luck!

@BritInNZ I do have PCOS! I found out about it last November and been on this journey since then.

I just had my scan today, and I also had 2 follicles , it’s cycle day 12 for me. Nurse recommended dtd tomorrow, Friday and Saturday.

how are you feeling?? Any update?

@Lexxa my period is due at the end of the week and I have all my usual PMS symptoms so sadly don't think it's worked for me this cycle. Not feeling too positive about it - unlike you I don't have PCOS so there's no reason this would work when I already ovulate on my own.

BritInNZ · 20/06/2022 15:00

@Lexxa just to let you know I got my BFP today, despite all my usual AF symptoms! I hope you get just as lucky soon enough 💗

Lexxa · 20/06/2022 17:30

@BritInNZ OH MY! Congratulations!!! I’m so happy for you!! This warms my heart. What cycle day did you get bfp? I can’t imagine how you are feeling, I’m sure a bunch of emotions. Thank you for the update, brings me a lot of joy to hear your success!
what are your symptoms now?

OP posts:
BritInNZ · 20/06/2022 18:31

@Lexxa thank you! It was month 17 and around cycle 18 or 19 I think, so a bit of a slog! No major symptoms, just AF-type cramps, sore boobs and thirsty all the time 😊

Lexxa · 20/06/2022 22:40

@BritInNZ ahhh I’m so excited for you! I’m 4 days past the trigger shot so I’m just so anxious to see what the outcome is this month. Fingers crossed!

@Lexxa fingers crossed for you!!!

Lexxa · 22/06/2022 21:55

@BritInNZ I forgot to ask you if you had any implantation bleeding?

OP posts:
BritInNZ · 23/06/2022 01:48

@Lexxa nope nothing. Had no symptoms except being really thirsty all the time 😊

Lexxa · 27/06/2022 21:09

@BritInNZ what do you think??

Ah wow that looks like a BFP 😁😁😁😁😁

Lexxa · 27/06/2022 21:42

@SaraSS thank you!! I really hope it is!! I’m going to retest ina few days to see if the line gets stronger.

BritInNZ · 27/06/2022 21:58

@Lexxa looks good to me! Did it come up straight away? I can't tell if there colour in it from the picture, but if there is then it looks like it may be your BFP! Maybe try another in the morning? How many DPO are you?

BritInNZ · 27/06/2022 21:59

@Lexxa also just saw you had a trigger shot... I know that can play with a pregnancy test results. So maybe worth considering that? Although I'm sure you know that already!

Lexxa · 27/06/2022 22:05

@BritInNZ yeah, it came up straight away I was pretty shocked. I took a cheapie pregnancy test the other day and it seemed negative so I thought the trigger shot was out of my system. Today I’m 11 days past trigger shot so I’m going to wait a couple more days to test again to see what the outcome is. Hopefully this is my bfp!!

@Lexxa yayyyy amazing news!!! Congrats!

Lexxa · 28/06/2022 21:31

@BritInNZ I’m starting to get nervous because I have slight cramping 😩 i really really don’t want it to lead to a chemical again.

OP posts:
BritInNZ · 28/06/2022 23:39

@Lexxa please don't worry! I had pretty bad cramps for a few days too, which I think is everything settling in for the next 9 months! I thought AF was arriving and kept checking for blood but after a few days it eased off and now I only get the odd cramps here and there 😊

Lexxa · 05/07/2022 04:38

Hi @BritInNZ!! how are you feeling??

OP posts:
BritInNZ · 05/07/2022 04:40

@Lexxa I'm all good thanks! Already had to make a switch to non-wired bras as my boobs are so sore, and definitely more sleepy than usual. But so far so good! A bit of a slight hangover feeling - not enjoying food, but not feeling sick either, in a weird middle ground. How are you?! Have the cramps subsided? Looks like you are having the early days insomnia judging by the time you posted 🤣
