Confusing Clearblue test result query - any advice?

I've just taken an old pg test, one of those ones that gives you a cross in the first window if you're pregnant but I've lost the paper instructions!
I got a very strong downward line in the first square window but no line crossing it. What might that mean?
I can't find a website that shows you all the possibilities.
But expiry on box is July 2007 so maybe I just need to go get another!

HI I think it means not preg if I remember correclt as the horizontal line is the preg line I think? ??? but im not 100% sure

hope someone comes along to advise you honey!

mumofdjandp · 14/01/2008 07:38

I know on clearblue the cross indicates pregnant I remember that from ds 1 and 2 xx

lulumama · 14/01/2008 07:40

found these images of positive results a cross is usually pregnant

Noellefielding · 14/01/2008 07:40

Well it says on the box that the horizontal line on its own is not preg but the cross is pregnant.
But thanks! I think I just need to get a new one to confirm!

Mumofj&p, sweet of you to ask!
Well I've just spoken to an adorable woman at clearblue and she said my test is out of date so not to trust it but that the strong blue line added to the fact that I'm a week late makes it possible I'm pg. But old tests r redundant so I need to get another this morning!
Feel ambivalent. Have one ds, had one miscarriage 2ish years ago, have tried endlessly to get pg, am ancient (42) have had4 months of clomid to prompt ovulation and then this.
Also have v sore mamms.
I may have to run out now and get another test!!!!!!!!!!!
After my hystery though, feel totally loathe to get even remotely excited, my mc devastated me for such a long time, I can't explain how badly. So even hoping feels like madness at my age!
Anyway will let you know later!

Noellefielding · 14/01/2008 14:19

(whispers...)
Test says yes!
I'm so pleased but hell, it's such early days and chances of failure are massive so I'm going to be quietly happy and try not to tell anyone!
Head down and busy now, going to try not to think about it......
