Progesterone in early pregnancy

Hiya

I have had 1 miscarriage, 1 ectopic pregnancy and 1 full term successful pregnancy (with 3 bouts of spotting/bleeding in 1st trimester).

The consultant said I am eligible for progesterone in my next pregnancy. Can anyone tell me what I have to do? Wait until I have bleeding in early pregnancy or as soon as I find out, request it?

Any advice welcome!

Some women take it as soon as they test positive. My gynaecologist told me to take mine from 2dpo to support that very early stage of pregnancy. I had the pessaries all waiting and after I confirmed ovulation via temping I started on them.

If I tested positive on 12dpo I was to continue. If negative I was to stop. Helped me first time.

Hi I have started on progesterone and aspirin after my first scan, I've had miscarriages in the past and no children so hoping this week help me get to full term. I started them yesterday at 6 weeks after a scan I was showing just less. They couldn't see a heart beat yet but was a yolk in the sac my next scan is in 2 weeks where I'll be nearly 8 weeks so fingers crossed! Has anyone had side effects on progesterone that yanno go up.....

I contacted my GP at my first positive test, who then saw the letter from the recurrant miscarriage on the clinical portal and they prescribed it for me.

Can cause bloating, breast tenderness and other symptoms similar to those of early pregnancy!

The pessaries themselves can cause vaginal irritation, but you can always insert them rectally if that is better.
