Ok,

Yesterday I got a weird twinge in my abdomen on the lower right. Not painful or uncomfortable but I was definitely aware of it. I've also noticed a bit of spotting (more specking actually) I did consider implantation but I don't even think I've OV'd yet as sticks haven't shown positive (although with major long cycles, I've been warned against them anyway)

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas? or come across this before? I really don't know if I have because this is the first time I'm really paying attention to things after 5 months being off the Pill.

Do you think it could be a sort of pre-ov?

Any potting between periods should be checked out by a GP. Its often nothing at all serious but it should be mentioned to such a person.

Have the possibility of hormonal imbalances been suggested re your v long cycles?. This is often the underlying cause behind such things.
BTW there is no evidence to suggest that the pill is responsible for failure to ovulate BUT it can mask symptoms of underlying hormonal problems which have always been there.

OPK's are of no use whatsoever if cycles are irregular.

I am not sure about the spotting, but the pain could be mittleschmerz (middle pain). This is a type of ovulation pain, something to do with the egg bursting through the wall (I get it regularly).

If you are ttc, get shagging everyday for the next couple of days!

Also, I can recommend a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It's very informative and answers a lot of questions you never knew you had!

thanks ATM

re opk's, Yes I've noticed (ha ha)

I've got an under-active thyroid which is fine now as I'm on thyroxine and had a recent blood test so no probs there. It was very slight, barely noticable - same goes for the twinge. I don't think I'd of noticed it if I wasn't paying attention.

I think I was just hopeful for implantation but I'm only on CD21 and my last cycle was 88days so really don't think I've Ov'd yet.

(Test on 4th Feb for PCOS re long cycles)

Thanks for your reply, I'll see if it gets any worse then go see GP

Thanks ILTMIMI I've ordered that book form amazon, hopefully will get it next week. Yeah, it did cross my mind it might have been ovulation but no other signs really.

You never know! Mittlescmmerz is an early sign of ovulation, so you may have other symptoms in the next few days.

Fwiw, ovulation sticks have never worked for me and I have a 'normal' 28 day cycle. So don't go entirely by them and their results.

fruitloop79 · 13/01/2008 09:22

ooh, fingers crossed then
