hi so I had a missed miscarriage about 2 weeks ago (9w+3), last Friday I had to have a erpc to remove as it wasn't coming away on its own! since this me and dh have had sex 4 times, I know you're meant to wait 2 weeks but I stopped bleeding snd we wanted to .. now I've decided to take the pill as we don't want to try again until next year to give us time to grieve properly.

is there a chance I could be pregnant again / fertile already it will be 2 weeks since the erpc on Friday

hope I'm making sense.

I would like to gonon the pill but not if there is a risk of being pregnant

I think you'd be best to use condoms or other non hormonal contraception until your next period just in case, then you'll know for definite if you're pregnant or not and if not you can go back on your pill. Best thing to do would be talk to your GP though.

What is erpc? I have heard of women getting pregnant 2/3 weeks after mc.

What frida said is good advice I think, condoms until next period just to be sure then go on the pill.

thank you for your replies! erpc is evacuation of retained products of conception (a minor procedure carried out by general anesthetic)

I would wait as others had said, my second was conceived straight after a miscarriage no period in between

Sorry for your loss, OP.

In my experience you are very unlikely to get pregnant so soon after an ERPC even if you do ovulate quickly, because your womb lining hasn't had an opportunity to build back up again and so there is nothing for an embryo to implant into.

I had an ERPC a couple of years ago and I bled for about a week afterwards and then ovulated the day after I stopped bleeding. My next period was very light because I'd basically bled all through my pre-ovulatory phase when normally my lining would have been building up ready for implantation.
