We are going to start TTC in August.

What should I be doing in preparing now to improve our chances/speed please? Should I start folic acid?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I am fit and healthy and have a normal BMI. X

You can start cycle tracking to know when you are ovulating. Having sex leading up to ovulation/around ovulation can increase your chances. There are free apps such as Flo and Femometer that can help you with this.
It doesn't hurt to start taking folic acid either, along with vitamin D/C.

Good diet, exercise etc. don't take it too seriously, and don't expect to be successful on your first attempt (although plenty are!) best of luck to you ☺️ just relax, enjoy dtd and you will hopefully see a BFP soon.

As pp said start taking folic acid. If you take a multi vitamin make sure it doesn't have vitamin A (bad for baby, don't know why). I took boots own pre-conception pills if they helped/ not who knows.

If you have a 28 day cycle use an app to track your ovulation. If you don't, like me and many, I found OPKs really helpful. I used easy@home and downloaded the premom app.

Good luck. And don't worry it often takes a while

Thanks both. I take vitamins D and C anyway. I also take magnesium, hope that's ok to keep taking.

Is the OPK the temp tests etc? @Irishfarmer x

@10ksteps opks check for your LH hormone levels during your cycle. Your LH peaks just before ovulation so theoretically having sex leading up to ovulation May help your chances. There are other ways to check for ovulation (cervix position, discharge, BBT) but opks are the easiest. They're just sticks that you dip in your urine.
I use them and use Femometer app to log my sticks/results. There are cheap boxes of them on Amazon.

Amazing thank you @Theawkwardblonde

Lots to think about! I'll stock up on all the bits ready for August and start the vitamins now ☺️

@10ksteps you're welcome ☺️ just please remember that it's unlikely to happen first try so don't be disheartened if you don't fall straight away. It took 18 months to conceive my daughter but I'm now sat with a 4 month old so the wait is worth it.
Good luck - hope you get a quick positive!

@10ksteps yes as PP said OPKs test your urine for LH levels and will show you when you peak. I'd be tempted to try them out after this period so you can get a good idea of how your own LH cycle is. They aren't expensive on amazon. Clear blue are very expensive but some say they are easier to read.

Hopefully they work quickly for you. After taking ages to concieve using apps and 2 mc's I tried OPKs and got my BFP 1st month TTC, currently 30 weeks pregnant now 😁
