Calorie deficit whilst TTC

Thoughts on being on a calorie deficit whilst TTC?

Want to start trying for a baby but also been on a calorie deficit. I'm in good shape but want to shift the last bit of stubborn fat that won't budge unless I cut back on the calories a bit.

Should I stop? God knows how long TTC will take though. Could be months or years.

Hey, I can’t say for certain as not a nutritionist but I can’t imagine it would make a difference, as long as your diet is balanced and your taking the correct supplements! Maybe check online or with your GP if you’re concerned 🙂

I do think that anything less than 1500 per day isn’t good for you though! Although I’m guilty of restricting!

@JaneGnR88 Yeah I'm not going to go extreme as I really don't "need" to lose weight. I just want to shift that last bit of stubborn fat around by belly and legs.

So it isn't a major calorie reduction, just more cutting out on snacks, sugar, and smaller portion sizes.

It might depend on what your weight and body fat percentage are at the moment? If you’re already fairly slim with a healthy bmi I would probably avoid trying to lose weight and conceive at the same time. I read somewhere that the optimal bmi for fertility is supposed to be around 22 - smack bang in the middle of the healthy range and a bit over the ´lean’ range.
Then again it may make zero difference. Women get pregnant in all sorts of improbable physical scenarios.
