I'll try and keep this short!! We've been ttc for 5 months and my cycle is regular as clockwork. I took a pt (Internet cheap one) day after af was due and got bfn. Next day took another (quick response better one) and got bfp!! That was 4 days ago and yesterday I found a very small amount of brown blood / discharge. There has not been enough to even go onto a pad, just when wiping.

I checked today and again, same brown blood / discharge but only when wiping and not on pad. Im wondering if any of you other ladies have experienced this before I worry myself silly!!

I still have really sore and swollen boobs and peeing constantly!!!!

My understanding is that brown blood isn't too much of a concern, but fresh red blood is.

I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me will come along Smile

Regenbogen22 · 17/05/2022 16:19

It could honestly go either way, OP. Many women get mild bleeding at the beginning and it's nothing. Lots of people say brown blood is old blood but that's how my early loss started. So it's impossible to say, to be honest. All you can do is keep an eye on it. If you experience any heavy cramping, especially on one side, then seek medical advice.

If it clears up then take another test in a few days.

Crazycleaner21 · 17/05/2022 16:49

Thank you so much for replying to me. I guess it's just a waiting game now. So sorry to hear about your early loss.
I've very mild cramping but nothing I've even needed to take pain relief for. I've got my fingers crossed!
Out of curiosity, how long do i give the bleeding to go before I assume I've lost?

Might just be implantation bleeding if you're only around the time your period is due.

If it's implantation bleeding then it shouldn't be much more than spotting as far as I'm aware (not had it myself). If it goes the other way then it will most likely be just like your period.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/05/2022 16:56

I had the same, I have a 21 year old now!

NeedMoMoney · 17/05/2022 17:08

I had this, although it was 2 weeks after I had an egg implanted during IVF, I had cramps in the morning and went to toilet, wiped blood, although it was more red then brown, all sorts of worry went through my head but I was lucky enough that I had a number to contact a nurse at the clinic, had a blood test the next day and all was ok they said it sometimes it just happens when the egg is getting settled in, fingers crossed for you 💐 x

Crazycleaner21 · 17/05/2022 17:13

Thank you for replying and being so kind. I have been unlucky when I lost my son at 30 weeks so I'm hoping 🤞🤞🤞luck is with me this time!!

LolaJ87 · 17/05/2022 17:14

I had a decent bit of brown blood for 2 days around when my period was due. It was only when it stopped and I was feeling rubbish that I thought to do a test, because it was like the first 2 days of my normal period (I always start off light).

If it turns red/fresh/you see clots it's not a good sign. Otherwise, I wouldn't be thinking it's a loss (and this is advice I got from a midwife).

FWIW I'm 11 weeks now and have had 3 other incidents of brown blood spotting - but everything has looked perfect on both my scans so far! It just happens to some of us.

Oh I'm so sorry for your late loss 😔 I'm 29 weeks so it really hits me when I read of losses around this relatively late time. You think you're definitely past the "risky time" and are somewhat safe.

What an angst-ridden time TTC and pregnancy is 😩

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/05/2022 17:43

I'm so sorry to hear of such late losses on this thread 💐

Crazycleaner21 · 17/05/2022 17:58

Thanks everyone. Yeh it was a tough time and it was 8 years ago, still feels like yesterday tho!! It's taken a long time for us to be brave enough to try again. I'm driving everyone mad being so hopeful I think haha!! Just think being hopeful and positive often helps.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and your well wishes, I really am so grateful. 😊

I agree with others It could honestly be totally fine then again it might not only time will tell. I had very light spotting for over a week went to my Gp when I was a day off 8 weeks she took a urine sample said it was fine no blood in it and not less than two hours later I started to MC . But then some spotting can be completely fine . Fingers crossed for you that it all goes well xxx

Crazycleaner21 · 17/05/2022 22:17

Lizzeybenett oh no that's so awful for you. I hope you have had some luck since that happened. I'm trying to keep busy til after the weekend and see what happens (bathroom visits have become quite worrying tho!!!) just doing everything I can to take my mind off. Goodness ladies what do we go through!!

OP posts:
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/05/2022 23:17

I still remeber that worry 21 years later, I really feel for you. Distraction and busy is good x

Crazycleaner21 · 18/05/2022 07:11

So I did another pt this morning. The Internet cheap one still negative but the early response still positive. Boobs not as sore this morning. Not sure if this means anything. Bleeding has got a little heavier but still only when wiping and none on pad.
Thank you all for kind wishes. Just want to know one way or the other now.

After 2 mc I had bleeding with my 3rd pregnancy. Feared the worse so contacted EPU who scanned me at around 6 weeks and again at 9. Probable implantation bleeding as DS is now 14months!
Have you called your EPU?

ZoeQ90 · 18/05/2022 08:14

I'm so sorry you're in this limbo land, it's really hard. Hoping for the best for you .

How many weeks do you think you are? To be honest if it's only light spotting and brown, your EPU are unlikely to do anything before 6 or 7 weeks unless it becomes heavy and bright red. It's too early to see much on a scan and it's a pretty common symptom in normal pregnancy. Not that that helps the anxiety!!

Crazycleaner21 · 18/05/2022 16:32

All I have here are my Dr surgery and a&e. I tried calling the Dr this morning but was told all apts were full and call back tomorrow unless an emergency. I really don't want to go there yet as no one (except dh obvs!!) knew, plus I have a 7 year old!
A bit tmi but I think I passed the embryo earlier. It fitted a few descriptions I've read. A kid of red jelly ball with a tail. So sorry for tmi description. Bleeding is red now but no clots except that.
Not sure what else to do as at 5 weeks it's to early to do anything except wait for nature to run it's course.
Is this right for emc being so early? If we weren't trying, I probably wouldn't even have noticed (if this makes sense) . With this in mind I'm assuming nature will do the rest and I don't need to go to a hospital.

Please do let me know if I'm totally wrong here, just what I can work out. Thanks again ladies, you're such fab support. X

Viviennemary · 18/05/2022 16:36

I was told the same. Brown blood usually not a concern but bright red blood is. Hope everything goes well..

Viviennemary · 18/05/2022 16:42

I am so sorry. I didn't see your update.

Crazycleaner21 · 18/05/2022 16:51

No prob viviennemary, thank you for replying to me. I'm just gonna see what happens and wait to pass the rest. Like to avoid hospitals if I can (due to other issues but I am aware I would need to cope if there was a "birthday"!!) hopefully mother nature does her job and it all comes out. Does anyone know how I know it has all come out?

LolaJ87 · 18/05/2022 16:59

I'm so sorry @Crazycleaner21. I'm not sure what's classed as normal this early on, but if you take a First Response pregnancy test next week and it's negative, then that usually means everything has passed ok. Sorry again, I wish there were words of comfort I could offer to you x

Crazycleaner21 · 18/05/2022 17:03

@LolaJ87 thank you so much. Your advice is so kind and I'm truly grateful to you and everyone who has replied. I'm finding a lot of comfort in reading these. ❤️ To you all. X
