If you fell pregnant instantly the first time and then it took over 6 months the next time, how long did it take and what did you do differently when it worked? 😂

clutching at straws here but I’m sooo frustrated!

No advice but I'm in the same boat. First took 3 months and this time round I'm in month 9 and still trying (had a mc month 4). Nothing I'm doing is working. I time dtd perfectly with when I conceived the last two times and nothing, I swear it's just luck of the draw.

fairgame84 · 13/05/2022 18:05

First time took 5 months, 2nd time 14 months. It's down to luck.

BiscuitLover3678 · 13/05/2022 19:37

I really want to hear from someone where it worked immediately the first time as I’m wondering if there’s been a change since?

maybe I drink more coffee now? Or is it down to dh? Argh!

I know a few people who took longer to fall the second time but it was more 4/5 months after it being immediate the first time.

I feel like I must be doing something wrong :(

No alcohol for me and very little for DH. No peas or tight undies for dh. No hot baths for either of us. Used ovulation predictors, pre-seed lubricant and lay motionless for half an hour after!

Why no peas???

with hot baths isn’t that only once already pregnant?

I got pregnant with my first instantly and fourth instantly. My 2nd and 3rd kids were to a different man and took just over a year to conceive them. So I've come to the conclusion he wasn't as fertile as my other kid's dads. Probably not relevant in your case, but that's all I can think of. If you've been pregnant once, you'll do it again.

BiscuitLover3678 · 13/05/2022 19:47

We use preseed too

I conceived my first after missing a few contraception pills whilst on holiday, 2nd baby was 6months of trying, 3rd pregnancy was ectopic and unplanned, I’m now on cycle 7 trying for DC3 and awaiting my BFP. I’m taking zinc, vit D, Vit B complex and folic acid, trying to lose weight, doing OPK tests, BBT… difference now from previous, I have one tube, I’m a bit fatter and I’m now 35

Hoping43 · 13/05/2022 20:20

I conceived my first aged 29 on the first month and my second took eight months aged 31. TTC my third now and I’m on month 14. Had every test going and they can’t find anything wrong 💔

GingerFox2021 · 13/05/2022 20:34

Conceived first having sex once. Trying for number 2 over 1,5 years 🤷‍♀️

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 13/05/2022 20:37

Not what you asked really but first time was three years ttc trying everything and anything. Round of ivf later and we had DS.

Second time we had sex unprotected once.

I don't get it!

BiscuitLover3678 · 13/05/2022 20:50

It’s nuts and so frustrating!! Just tell me, body

It's definitely luck of the draw. We conceived dc1 straight away, first month trying. I knew my cycles v well as had been temping for a while, and used opks. Happened straight away, and had a straight forward pregnancy, healthy baby girl.
Been TTC since December for no 2, have had 2 early miscarriages. We paused trying this cycle - probably going to try again next cycle.
I haven't been in the best health, tired from our toddler waking in the night, and there are other reasons it could be for sure. But it's a mystery what the true reason is when we struggle!

I'm taking a super good prenatal which includes all the b vitamins plus some (cytoplan or Terra Nova are best imo) plus omega 3, vitamin c, probiotics, coq10 and trying to limit coffee. The two times I fell since Dec I'd stopped drinking coffee.

My DH is taking Wellman conception, omega 3 and coq10 (when he remembers).

It's tough, no denying it x

Mrsteapot42 · 13/05/2022 20:57

I was with opposite, took ages with first and immediately with second. We weren't having enough sex TBH.

I also waited six months after I came off my pill second time around before TTC. So that helped too I suppose.

Mrsteapot42 · 13/05/2022 20:58

Also meant to say, I didn't track cycles or anything. Just sex a minimum of 3 times a week.

First time I’d only been a month off the pill and this time round I was never on contraception and had been tracking everything for a year before we even started!

Look into vitamins. Vitamin B complex, vitamin C etc. Your body might need more after having a baby. Eat eggs, eat well, less caffeine. I was breastfeeding whilst TTC but the month I did these things is the month I got pregnant. Look into Lily Nichols "Real Food for Pregnancy" x

Gettissuesgotissues · 13/05/2022 21:01

Instant, one shot for first dc, nearly 2 years for 2nd after 2 early mc's. All tests fine, conceived shortly after a hycosy (there is anecdotal evidence this can help) and a lovely holiday abroad. I always wondered if it was something to do with emcs scarring. Wasn't age as 3rd was conceived after only 4-5 months (and 1 early mc, and another lovely holiday!), and second was a vbac. So many potential factors at play unfortunately, I hope you catch soon.

Ally256 · 13/05/2022 21:12

Ha are you me? First month with the first one, seven months and nothing but an mc this time. It's so frustrating!

ihmlsnwidhks · 13/05/2022 21:17

It's very strange isn't it? with dc1 about 2 months without any opks etc.t dc2 almost a year with cycle tracking. Dc3 i was on the pill!! My mum died just before we ttc 2 ao perhaps stress?

BeautifulBirds · 13/05/2022 21:19

Yep, only took once for first. Been trying since Jan for 2nd.

Lh last month didn't surge.

Try again this month!!

diamondpony80 · 13/05/2022 21:30

1st instantly and 2nd took nearly 4 years. Endometriosis. It just finally happened when we weren’t really “trying”. The only thing that we did differently was a session of infertility reflexology. I was recommended it by a relative who had also been struggling to conceive and we both fell pregnant within a month of each other. Probably just a coincidence, but no harm in trying these things I guess.
