@FlyOnTheWall89 do you know how/where I can check? I’ve tried googling and can’t find any guidelines for my local area. I just took what the doctor said at face value to be honest, maybe I should have been pushier 😕he kept saying we’re young enough that it’ll happen on its own, he wasn’t overly helpful!!

Scrambledeggz · 30/05/2022 14:43

@FlyOnTheWall89 meant to say yes I’m taking supplements, honestly I’m surprised I don’t rattle when I walk…!!! Currently taking:

  • vitamin D3 25ug
  • folic acid 400ug
  • natures aid premeze agnus castus 400mg (2x a day)
  • vitamin b complex 100mg
  • zita west vital DHA with omega 3 (2x a day)
I honestly can’t even remember what they’re all meant to do anymore. my husband has been taking wellman conception, but I’ve just ordered proxeed for him to switch to instead
FlyOnTheWall89 · 30/05/2022 16:18

Ye I am taking lots of those too @Scrambledeggz, plus ubiquinol . I think call up and explain that you have never read or heard of a 3 year wait before treatment. You've got nothing to lose and explain that you're finding it tough mentally. Lay it on a bit thick and see what happens. Then at least you've tried before you go privately. I think statistically 96 ish percent fall in their second year of trying, so it could just happen but at least you'll feel like you've tried everything you can via NHS. X

Scrambledeggz · 30/05/2022 17:13

@FlyOnTheWall89 havent heard of ubiquinol, I’ll have a look in to it!

yes I think I’ll do that and then at least I know I tried, rather than just spending all the money if we could have got more help 😣

how long have you been trying?

Carla2601 · 30/05/2022 20:08

@Scrambledeggz agree re ubiquinol I took that too.

Also FSH i think is the egg quality bit and AMH is the egg reserve bit but do not quote me on that as I’m no expert that was just my understanding from my clinic

Scrambledeggz · 30/05/2022 21:45

@Carla2601 @FlyOnTheWall89 are either of you able to recommend a specific ubiquionol brand please? Thank you!

BritInNZ · 30/05/2022 22:20

Hi all - just got back from my scan. Not the best news as none of my follicles were big enough. They said either they've scanned too early or they haven't got the dosage right on my letrozole. The vaginal scan actually really hurt on one side, she was confused but I honestly think she was just pressing on my cervix - it felt like similar pain to when I had my HSG. Anyway, got to go back for another scan in a few days and had to have bloods taken too.

OP posts:
FlyOnTheWall89 · 30/05/2022 22:27

@Scrambledeggz I think it's called Solgar but I've used various tbh. I take 200mg for quality. I think the link with FSH is that if you have high FSH it's an indication your body is having to 'work hard' to produce the follicles but do don't think 4.1 is high. Again, not a doc. Certainly doesn't sound like that's preventing you though.

Oh how confusing @BritInNZ. Let's hope for better news in a few days. Xx

BritInNZ · 31/05/2022 04:25

Spoke to one of the nurses at the specialists. They’ve said she couldn’t see any dominant follicles and my estrogen count was so low it’s like I’m at the start of my cycle, so they think I haven’t responded to the medication. I have to go back for another scan and bloods next Tuesday. If I still don't have any dominant follicles I will have my dosage upped, and they said they can start this before my next cycle.

Really confused though. As I've been told I ovulate so why this month am I not ovulating? I'm baffled 😂 I even have ovulation spotting each month when I ovulate. It's like letrozole has stopped me from ovulating like I usually do?!

@BritInNZ oh I’m sorry that’s so frustrating - although at worst let’s hope it helps them identify the challenge so they can fix it for you. Very strange as you say but maybe they’ve stumbled across something that might give some clues.

Sorry it hurt - that follicle scan isn’t the best but you get used to it and it shouldn’t hurt so as you say maybe it was because she was searching around (trying to say hopefully will be better next time for you). I’m not sure if this could be the same but my follicles grew really slowly the month of my IVF, behind what they thought they would and then they got almost double the eggs as a load of them hadn’t been spotted on the scans (and I had one every other day!!) so idk but could it be worth asking? They ended up upping my dose based on it too.

Anyways good luck and keep us posted

FlyOnTheWall89 · 31/05/2022 07:52

That is so weird @BritInNZ - I really hope that this helps identify either a problem or if they simply up the dose, you get some nice follicle growth... That is why they say a course of treatment for IVF because they literally have no idea how each individual body will react to the drugs. Keep us updated xx

BritInNZ · 31/05/2022 19:43

@Carla2601 yes it's really frustrating and very confusing! I kinda hope they figure out there has been an issue with ovulation because then it might give some hope/answers. I'm trying not to go down a rabbit hole of whether I haven't been ovulating at all etc, just need to wait until next Tuesday. That's interesting about your scans, will see what they say next week.

I also went to an infertility support group last night and it was really great. There were 7 of us who have been/are going through infertility and it was really useful to hear other peoples stories and just get everything off my chest. This forum is great, but nothing quite beats in-person interactions!

OP posts:
Scrambledeggz · 31/05/2022 20:21

@BritInNZ i had no idea in person fertilily support groups even existed! I might have a look to see if there’s one near me 😊

NatW2021 · 31/05/2022 21:15

@BritInNZ - Sorry to hear about the scan and more uncertainty, i think as you said sometimes one thing can open up more questions than can hopefully lead to some answers so Fingers crossed - the support group sounds really good - was it just informal? I may look to see if there us something in my area.

I am driving myself round the bend as i am 12dpo the craziness creeps in regardless of where i am! The weather has been a bit rubbish for the last 2 days in Mexico so had lots of time on my hands and after spotting at 8dpo followed by a blocked nose i was feeling confident and bought a test from the supermarket 🤦‍♀️ anyway i took it and after 2 mins it was negative so i was in a right mood went for drinks clme back and it looked positive but so many reviews about how awful clear blues are for evaps so back to square one! WHY do i put myself through this im losing the plot. AF due friday had some minor twinges so no doubt on the way!

BritInNZ · 31/05/2022 21:31

@NatW2021 thank you, feel a bit down and anxious about it all and can't help feeling frustrated that it's a month 'wasted' as we're not allowed to TTC until they know more. Yes it was really informal - they meet once a month in the evening and they're looking at starting a walking group one weekend a month too. When you think you have it tough, you hear other peoples stories and realise how many different journey's people have. I could talk about my stuff easily, but hearing other people's I was holding back tears!

Ahhh that's so annoying! Can you get any FRERs over there? When do you go home? Fingers crossed this is the start of some good news for you! I've never had an evap (not that I test much) so I still think it could be a good sign?!

OP posts:
Carla2601 · 31/05/2022 21:41

@BritInNZ try not to worry too much - if (and as you pointed out in your first point it’s a very very big if) it is an ovulation issue that’s something they’ve got loads of techniques to help with and an identified problem is (mostly obvs some are not) better than an unidentified one but then I know the process of starting to find something is so anxiety inducing and stressful. Good luck for Tuesday

NatW2021 · 31/05/2022 21:43

@BritInNZ - So sorry its so bloody rubbish its just such an ordeal i can understand why you are feeling upset and frustrated. Glad you found the group helpful, i think its really good to speak to others going through a similar situation (although individual experiences vary) as i honestly think its the toughest thing I've dealt with.

I could go on the hunt for another test but dont want to put my hubby through it again as was rather stressful and i said i would just wait now. If i test i usually do it alone and keep him out if it at home. Obviously i have a glimmer of hope but the reviews are pretty mixed online 🤷‍♀️

Carla2601 · 01/06/2022 07:42

@NatW2021 hope you’re ok - glad you went out for drinks and still tried to make the most of your time there. Let us know how you get on on Friday x

Indianna2006 · 02/06/2022 09:27

@NatW2021 oh what a nightmare. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏼🤞🏼 It’s so stressful when it’s not always a definitive answer.

well my first bleed post surgery has arrived after a confusing few weeks.
hoping for a much more normal settled cycle this month. And will be pleased just to know hopefully what is going on!

NatW2021 · 03/06/2022 10:32

@Indianna2006 @Carla2601 @BritInNZ - AF arrived like clock work this morning - kicking myself for allowing myself to think there was a chance! Day on the sofa as shattered jet lag kicking in after a 8 hour delay followed by a 9 hour flight.

I was expecting a letter from NHS for my follow up but nothing ill be ringing monday - i just want some answers now its been a long 12 months.

@Indianna2006 - hopefully things are getting back on track 🤞 xx

Indianna2006 · 03/06/2022 10:43

@NatW2021 aww I’m so sorry hun. Ffs. Had my hopes up for you too. Deffo get chasing after that appointment.
just remind me but apart from your thyroid they hadn’t identified any issues have they?
it’s so frustrating.

yes they am back on track now. My first period arrived post miscarriage. Super heavy! Believe somehow I actually fell again an had a chemical as well which was a bit of a shock. Maybe post miscarriage extra fertility although I didn’t have that last time so not sure I really believe in all that?!. maybe 5he fertilily worked again. Or maybe it is really just pot luck..! 🤷🏻‍♀️

but back to a normal fresh cycle. Which I’m actually quite glad of. Hopefully I can track and know what’s going on again! It’s been a long funny 3 months of rollercoaster emotions.

NatW2021 · 03/06/2022 11:06

@Indianna2006 I know i am so so fed up! I don't need to express it in words as everyone is in the same boat and actually gets how upsetting this journey is.

All that has been picked up is my thyroid so far which was in optimal range at my last blood test in April - i keep thinking maybe now its under control i have a chance but the months roll by and still nothing so i havent a clue. I was hoping to have my hycosy done through the NHS but i dont think i can bare the wait then waiting for a follow up any longer so might look into going private next cycle. We cant apply for ivf funding till i lose 3 stone 😫 that operation starts Monday as im in no mood to eat healthy until then!

Sorry to hear you think its a chemical - it does sound likely as your BBT was up wasnt it? It must have been a really tough few months. Least you can start tracking again now xx

Carla2601 · 03/06/2022 17:24

@Indianna2006 what an awful few months you’ve had. I’m really pleased you’ve got your normal cycle this month and you feel like you can start over with ttc. Hope you’ve had a good fun bank holiday.

@NatW2021 I’m really sorry, it’s such a crushing disappointment once you’ve got your hopes up isn’t it. That journey sounds like a nightmare too. Hope you’re binge watching terrible series and eating all the treats today. Good luck with the call and the health kick next week. I’m not sure if it’s any good for you but I did the 30 day yoga for weight loss in lockdown (I think it was Julia on Amazon prime but might be free on YouTube) and I loved it. Just like 20 mins a day and I felt so toned after (I did the course three times I liked it that much!). might not suit you but wanted to share in case useful x

Netflixnchilli · 06/06/2022 12:00

How is everyone doing? I’m feeling pretty low and pissed off with my body, have had several negative pregnancy tests but my period is 9 days late - feels like such a kick in the teeth.

Hoping43 · 06/06/2022 13:32

Sorry to hear that. Has this happened before?

there have been tears in my house this morning. Expecting my period this week and it’ll be on to month 15. We do have another appt with the clinic tomorrow but we have to wait til October to discuss IVF so I don’t really know what the point is. I feel like they can keep telling me there’s nothing wrong but it’s not happening so what’s the point xx
