TTC and cycle 3 but already getting disheartened each time AF appears. Ordered ovulation tests and resting ahead of possible ovulation next weekend (according to apps).

However, today is Saturday and Husband has just tested positive for covid, feels like it's a cold atm. I have tested negative. Unsure if we should still DTD.

Conscious next month he's away when I'm due to ovulate.

Found lots online about vaccinations and conceiving but not DTD whilst one person is positive

Do One Step ovulation tests show a positive line in the lead up to AF due if you're pregnant?

It can, OPKs can mistake HCG for LH and show a positive. But it can also just mean that your period is coming. I've had positive OPKs before periods a few times, as my hormones rise. Fingers crossed for you.

I've got a long/unpredictable cycle, so I usually start testing a few days after the end of my period and keep testing until I've had a positive and then they go negative again.

You usually ovulate about 14 days before the end of your cycle, so if you have a 28 day cycle, it's 14 etc, but it's not an exact science. I have a 35-42 ish day cycle and usually get a positive OPK around day 21-25.

I used to test first thing with FMU, and then at about 2pm. LH (luteal hormone) is generally released from midday) and indicates that your body is preparing to ovulate in the next 12-24 hours or so. Hold your urine for about 3-4 hours before an afternoon test so you get a more accurate result. The test line had to be as dark or darker than the control line, it can take about 15-30 minutes for it to develop properly. (That's if you're using the one step/easy at home cheapie OPKs, which I'd recommend). They're not the same as pregnancy tests in that you have to discard them after five minutes.

It's good to have sperm waiting for the egg so just DTD every other day throughout your cycle is recommended. You might want to have a look at SMEP plan. It takes some of the pressure off because there's always sperm waiting on the off chance there's an egg 😂

Good luck x

Hey can I ask, when is the best time to dtla when you get a positive line on an opk? Or is by that time it too late?
