Clear Blue went from solid smiley to empty circle within hours

Hi just wondering if anyone could advise... I've been using the clear blue ovulation tests every day for the last 9 days, they've all been the flashing smilies... finally this morning around 9.30 I got a solid smiley so we DTT then. I've just used an old test kit (as I can't use the new one for 48hrs now) to see if the smiley is still solid and I've got an empty circle just 10 hours later. I surely can't of ovulated since this morning already? I'm worried I've now missed my window. Could the older test kit be inaccurate as it's not used to my LH levels? Thanks

Ignore the older test.

They say once you get the solid smiley to stop testing and just get DTD.

Ideally you want to be DTD on flashing smiley days too so that when you ovulate there is already sperm waiting.

@Charl881 thanks yeah I think it's best to ignore the older test. We did DTD on the Tuesday but not Wednesday and Thursday, and Friday morning is when I got the solid smiley. Hopefully we've not missed the window. I was started to give up as I was getting so many flashing smileys

You shouldn't mix and match test holders during a cycle - the more you use the same tester the more data it learns. Its designed to go from empty to flashing or solid when it detects a 5x increase in estrogen or LH from the previous test done until you get a peak then resets itself.

@workingmomlife ah I see that makes sense. So the first time you use the test will always be an empty circle even if you're at your peak? I probably shouldn't of mixed the tests I just wanted to see what it would say as the cheap test strips still aren't a really dark line yet despite the clear blue having a solid smiley.

Trying not to obsess too much but it's hard, I had a miscarriage back in Feb and this is my first ovulation since then so want to time it right.

In theory yes it will always be an empty circle however if you've been using the same holder a while you may get a flashing smiley straight away - the dual hormone one flashes when it detects estrogen and then solid once it detects a significant increase in LH

Hey… I’m not sure if anyone is going to see or reply to this but I need some help with my OPK! Using clear blue. Have used the past two months and my cycle has been like clockwork and used the same holder for both cycles and ovulated on day 18! This month I’ve had a run of blank circles with my day 18 falling on Monday and today being Thursday. I tried another holder and I’m getting a flashing smiley today.

is the older one now not working at all? Should I continue to use the new one? Just a bit misleading as I don’t know where I am , and it’s stressing me out! Someone help 💔

@Dory23 hey! do you have any of the cheap OPK tests like the easy at home ones? I used those alongside the clear blue digital one and when the line got dark I'd then start using the digital as well to confirm it. Not sure why one would be a blank circle and one would be a smiley though :( I'd probably trust the new one though over the old one, they used to stress me out as well x

Oh okay! I ordered some today! So stressful! Same again today! Just going to go with the second test and see what happens!
