Dodgy FRER?

Pudding01 · 15/04/2022 17:46

Has anyone bought any first response early results from Amazon recently?

I am 98% convinced this is an indent line, which appeared after 1 minute and has stayed 10 mins later.

I stopped using CB because of them and I'm not sure if the quality of FR has changed?

Depends....how many DPO are you?

Pudding01 · 15/04/2022 17:50

I'm not actively trying, just not felt "right". On the mini pill and did miss one a couple of weeks or so ago but took 2 the next day, as you do Grin

It's hard to say without knowing how many days post ovulation you are - do you know what cycle day you are?

Maternitynamechange · 15/04/2022 18:05

They do seem to have a really high rate of evaporation lines (pink ones) the Amazon batches. There are so many poor reviews on there.

BloodyCreateUsername · 15/04/2022 18:05

That’s a faint positive to me

workingmomlife · 15/04/2022 18:08

It does look like a faint positive - compared to the other thread which that one does look like an evap. I'd expect somewhere around 9-10 DPO though no more - if it's been 2+ weeks since you last had sex I'd say it's a bad test or a chemical

Pudding01 · 15/04/2022 18:27

@workingmomlife I wish I knew cycle days etc. I monitored them when I was trying before (unsuccessfully after a horrendous miscarriage) but since being back on the mini pill I don't really have any cycles as such as it's only a break through bleed now and again.
9-10dpo could be around the missed pill day then couldn't it. We're quite active with our sex life. I suffer from Ibs so assumed the cramping was that for a couple of days until I became really fatigued and sore boob. But who knows with hormones when you're on the pill or stressed.

@Maternitynamechange I saw a few reviews about this! I'm not sure why they are different, unless they aren't genuine tests. I was worried the quality had dropped as I know usually these are the best tests for accuracy.

@BloodyCreateUsername what makes you sway towards faint positive?

They used to be amazing. In the past few years they’ve changed dramatically (either that or I had a chemical every month)

Charl881 · 15/04/2022 19:11

That looks like a faint positive to me and I’ve done a lot of FRERs Grin

Ditto, unfortunately. These days you can actually see the second line even before you wet it.

That said. That looks like a faint positive to me…

Pudding01 · 15/04/2022 20:06

I think I better order again and see Confused. I thought pregnancy tests were meant to clear up any uncertainty, not make it worse! Lol honestly thought it was a dodgy test x

To be fair it’s exactly what an early positive would look like. In the end I just made sure I was using them for progression and tried not to get too exited at that first line.

Pudding01 · 15/04/2022 21:58

Good idea. I have been trying on and off for years and no pregnancy has stuck. Imagine if after all that I got pregnant on the pill! Although I'm getting married in Dec, so not the best timing.

Still believe it's an indent and the tests have dropped their standards. Bit will definitely keep you up to date.

@Pudding01

Years ago doctors used to proscribe the pill to women trying to get pregnant - the idea being that actually the pill is designed to put your body in a state of pregnancy so that it doesn't get pregnant for real - so that when you come off the pill your body environment is now really receptive to being pregnant and you get pregnant more easily

In fact "pill priming" is still used by many IVF clinics as part of their protocols

That's why lots of women get pregnant on the pill when they don't follow the instructions correctly as it can actually make you very fertile 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

LemonZestDribbles · 16/04/2022 09:14

I've found the last few frers I could see something that was nothing BUT nothing as clear as that. I'd say tentatively that it looks like a faint positive 🤞

Charl881 · 16/04/2022 20:29

Any update OP?

Pudding01 · 17/04/2022 09:22

It appears it was a dodgy test. Tested again today with a new test and the grey line was visible before I even used it, but it didn't darken like the last test did.

Really disappointed with FRER. Had I have been trying (again) this could have been really emotional! In fact it has stirred some old feelings after years of not being able to conceive properly.

@Pudding01 you can see the grey line even in that. At least you looked beforehand. Hope you're okay and it hasn't triggered too much x

JaneGnR88 · 18/04/2022 09:46

Hi all, sorry to jump in here and sorry you had to deal with that @Pudding01

I’ve been getting faint test lines all week on easy at home and couple of first response, took a first response this morning and got this! Now I don’t know what to think at all! I’m not sure how many DPO as I have PCOS.

This is the clearest line I’ve had all week and in person it does have a slight pink hue.

Could I get some eyes please?

I bought these ones off Amazon but have some coming from boots tomorrow - and some other brands to check! Xx

My tests were the amazon FRER and as you can see from the original pictures I had a clear line, albeit not a genuine one. So I will never be recommending the amazon ones for accurate testing. My second test had a line too, but I could see one before I even took the lid off 🙄

Fingers crossed for you 🤞
