Is this enough sex?

We've been 'trying' for 6 months and nothing.

We probably only have sex 2 / 3 times max in my fertile window each month - I used ovulation kits the first month so I pretty much know when it will be. Minus one month when it was a lot more, but still no luck.

Getting worried there is a problem but do we just need to do it more? Any tips / advice please.

Starting to feel very bogged down and sad.

I hear you OP. I’m on month 4 and had expectations of sneezing & becoming preggo. I’m trying the sperm meets egg plan this month.

When are those 2 or 3 times in the fertile window?

It's scary and depressing isn't it

Fingers crossed this month brings good news!

They are usually the day or so before but I think I need to track ovulation every month. I just wanted to avoid giving it so much headspace!

Me too! It’s so hard as everyone seems to have babies or be pregnant right now.

We’re going for every other night until ovulation and then every day from the day before, on the day and after. We are throwing everything at it this month! I’m currently googling MORE vitamins…

Keep tracking ovulation, that's the key thing. It took us 4 cycles but the month I fell pregnant we'd only dtd once, just apparently at the perfect time.

It might also depend if you've come off hormonal contraception as that can take a while to leave your system even when your periods are back.

@hiyageorgie42 thank you. Will track again this cycle.

Could be missing it I suppose.

I need to sort my diet out too really.

(assuming normal length cycles)

At least every 2nd day cd10-20 covers your bases. Eg cd 10, 12, 14 16 18 20

The more time you have sex the more chances you have to conceive.
Don’t get scientific, keep the fun and there will be less stress

PermanentlyTired03 · 10/04/2022 21:52

What contraceptive were you on? Some take months to leave the system.
We had sex every 1-2 days in the fortnight after my period- I used ovulation kits for 2 months and they constantly said negative so I stopped using them. I was more relaxed not tracking every detail. Good luck!

Hi OP, I was doing ovulation tests and trying all the different plans including SMEP. But, we really struggled to have regular sex as just didn’t have the drive/stamina! We had been trying 4 months and in March we DTD on day 10 and day 12 only - two days in the whole month! I got a positive ovulation on cd14 so probably ovulated on cd15. I thought we definitely out - as sperm usually lives 1.5 days on average, but hey presto, I’m now pregnant! 🤷🏼‍♀️

The only thing I did differently was take iron and B6 in addition to all my other vitamins. I was also drinking lots of water, and eating loads of fruit. I can’t remember if we used pre-seed on the day we conceived, but we had been using it sometimes.

Good luck OP. Sending you lots of baby dust!

Sweetpeasaremadeofcheese · 10/04/2022 22:13

We tried for years until we found our “routine". Once my period ended we dtd every 3 days until it came back again. We also used preseed to rush those swimmers along. I think guessing when I was fertile or ovulating was tripping us up. 3 pregnancies within a couple of months with this routine.

When we were seriously trying, DH would also stop erm helping himself iykwim.
