How many cycles before BFP?

Just that: wondering how many cycles it took everyone to get their BFP?

We did cycle #1 but it ended in a horrible MMC at 11 weeks. Now into #6 since miscarriage and losing hope.

Worried that people tend to either conceive quickly or not for years, and I'm 39 so don't have years! Just looking for a bit of hope really.

Thanks x

Don't lose hope. It took me 11 cycles with my first, just one with my second. It's different for every couple and every pregnancy. I'm sorry for your loss Flowers

1, 12, 13, 1. Middle 2 kids were to the same man so I think he may have had a problem as I only took 1 cycle with my others.

Conceived on he 6th cycle - but I have irregular periods and suspected PCOS so that took about 10-11 months.

We were due to be referred for fertility treatment, then the pandemic started, everything got put on hold and we ended up conceiving just before the first lockdown naturally. I think what helped also was the lack of stress from having to commute long distance daily.

About 6 cycles for DC1, long though so it was 13 months or so.

5 cycles for DC2, 11 months of not actively trying but not preventing.

With DD1 it took 16 months, but I had undiagnosed hypothyroidism and mad cycles for 10 of those months (it was actually ‘only’ 10 cycles, as I had a 147 cycle at one point 🤪), and with DD2 it took 12 months (with a CP 8 months in). Last month I had an unexpected surprise after not taking my mini pill properly for a couple of months, but then that turned into an early miscarriage. We’re sort of thinking about trying properly now…I don’t imagine we’ll be replicating the ease of last month though 😢

It took 11 cycles with my first but I had a mc and a MMC along the way don't lose hope

13 cycles with my first. TTC #2 now and just had a chemical on sixth cycle so still trying but hopefully it may happen soon.

Im so sorry about your miscarriage.
I’m 42. 6 cycles for my first, at 40 and I just have a BFP last week after 3 cycles.
But I believe there’s only a 25% chance of anyone conceiving on any cycle so I’m honestly amazed anyone gets pregnant quickly.
It’s weird but I’ve conceived each time on the following cycle after getting back from an abroad holiday. I really think there’s a lot of truth in being relaxed and in my case in the sunshine?!. Stress seems to make this much harder but it’s so cruel because when you want this so badly you can’t help but get all consumed by it.
Don’t lose heart about your age. It could take just as long if you were 10 years younger. There are a lot of posts on here with 20 somethings.
Everyone is different and each conception is different but personally I wouldn’t do anything that stresses you out eg peeing on ovulation strips. I tried all that first time around and it didn’t speed things up. It just stressed me out.

Thanks all, very heartening to know it's not a quick road for most people.

@PoodlesAreMySpiritAnimal yeah we've abandoned ovulation strips and are just going to DTD every other day from about day 8/9, as docs seem to recommend.

I've also been told I have one blocked tube so didn't expect to fall pregnant so quickly the first time, but when that ended I immediately started to panic that it would be tricky again.

I think you're right about the holiday thing. My friend's dad is a gynaecologist and tells anyone struggling to get pregnant to come see him if they're still not knocked up after two weeks in the sun!
