Would just love to hear about other people's experiences with acupuncture when TTC ☺️

Hi there, I have been doing acupuncture for about 8 months (ttc 13 months). Initially I did it weekly and now fortnightly. I think I'll move to monthly now. Some things have changed - I'm a bit less anxious which is what I really wanted to address. She has given me some helpful advice about nutrition etc. but the problem is I still haven't conceived 🤷🏼‍♀️

RMS0209 · 03/04/2022 12:48

Hi! I tried it for 2/3months, it did relax me if anything now I am trying fertility reflexology which I am enjoying. I go to this weekly but I think I will change it to bi weekly soon. I booked a 10 week block. X

GingerFox2021 · 03/04/2022 21:12

I know there are lots of positive stories when Acupuncture helped to conceive, but no changes for me so far🤷‍♀️. Started since January. Doing every two weeks as can’t get time off from work to do it weekly.

WutheringCripes · 03/04/2022 21:38

I really had a great success with acupuncture, we had been trying for 18 months and the month I started Acupuncture (and wearing socks in bed) we conceived.

You must, must, must go to someone who has been doing acupuncture for 20+ years, someone who has made it their life's work, and ideally studied or practiced in China. This will make a HUGE difference.

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 03/04/2022 21:44

We were going through IVF when I booked my sessions as I'd heard good things. I had a session before egg collection, one after egg collection, and one the week the eggs had been put back. Our little miracle is currently curled up in a sleepy ball and turns 3 at the end of the month 😊

Mariabombia · 04/04/2022 20:25

Thanks for the replies everyone ! It's really interesting how people are so divided on it. I'm more of a facts girl so I must admit I'm quite skeptical but I've got myself booked in for a session this week to try it. The acupuncturist seems to have over 20 years of experience so I'm hoping they'll be good and it'll work like a charm haha.

How much are you meant to go? It's rather pricey !! 😬 I'll literally try anything at this point though lol

MO22 · 04/04/2022 20:38

I had my first session today! She was lovely, and I was a bit sceptical, but, like you, I'll try anything!

I'd love to hear more success stories too now I've forked out for 6 sessions ha, following

Mariabombia · 06/04/2022 08:52

I've had my first session too @MO22 . It was more of a talking session. I had some needles placed at the end but only a few. Didn't hurt at all, tingled a bit when they first went in but it wasnt unpleasant. Came out feeling really relaxed, not sure if it was from the talking or the needles but either way that must be a good thing?
I'm definitely going to try another few sessions. She said she's focusing on rebalancing me generally as that will help with conception. How did your first one go?

OP posts:
MO22 · 06/04/2022 08:58

I definitely have felt more relaxed after going, and feel a bit more like "me" after a few difficult months post MMC.

She talked quite a bit about aggressive enegry

MO22 · 06/04/2022 09:00

Oops posted too soon - she talked quite a bit about aggressive energy that she is seeing a lot in people post covid, and showed me my skin being a bit blotchy from one needle which I think she said was the blood clearing the blockage and something to do with chi?!

Who knows, I'm due to ovulate in a few days and I was really worried about covid lengthen my cycle and so far everything seems ok OPKs wise! I'm back next Monday for another session so 🤞🏼

RoseGold24 · 07/04/2022 08:08

I have to update that I have in fact conceived! Good luck with acupuncture everyone xx

Mariabombia · 07/04/2022 08:55

@MO22 never heard of aggressive energy but it does make sense for people to be stressed after the last couple of years. I recently got married and the acupuncturist thought the stress of it could have in balanced me ? She said conceiving could be a case of some subtle shifts. Honestly I don't really understand it all but I did come out feeling calmer :) did yours give you any 'homework'?
Best of luck with O these next couple of days, hope you get lots of chances to DTD.
That's good about your cycle length ! Since tracking mine it's been anywhere from 26-31 days which I'm surprised about as I always thought it was the standard 28 days !

@RoseGold24 oh my goodness!!! Congratulations 🎉 you must be so thrilled!! Did you say you've been TTC for 8 months? Is it your first? Have you got any symptoms yet? 💕 21 questions haha

OP posts:
RoseGold24 · 07/04/2022 09:01

Hi @Mariabombia no we've been trying for 13 cycles! This will be my first ☺️My boobs and back are really sore so far! Kind of looking forward to feeling nauseous haha, as that will mean it's real. Was at acupuncture again last night and told her I got my bfp but was anxious so she did a treatment to calm me and 'hold everything in' lol!

GingerFox2021 · 07/04/2022 12:29

Congratulations @RoseGold24!
It will keep me going to Acupuncture few months more then ☺️

RoseGold24 · 07/04/2022 13:05

Thanks @GingerFox2021 ☺️I'm so happy but still so anxious. She said if I'm worried about spotting or anything I should call her as she might be able to help x

Mariabombia · 07/04/2022 19:39

That's amazing news @RoseGold24 !! Hope you have a happy healthy pregnancy 😊❤️

Sorry for being nosy but have you ever had a bfp before? I wonder sometimes if I'll ever see those two lines! Had you started with fertility tests?

OP posts:
RoseGold24 · 07/04/2022 21:08

@Mariabombia thank you! No I've never had a bfp before, I thought it would never happen for me! I hadn't had any fertility tests yet but was on the waiting list for the fertility clinic via my GP. Good luck xx

ElbowsandArses · 07/04/2022 21:13

I was seeing a fertility specialist and had just had various tests done and consultant told me there was no way I would be able to get pg/sustain a pg w/o medical help. I was also having acupuncture (in a can’t do any harm way). I conceived DS that same cycle and he is now a teenager. Convinced it was the acu that made the difference.

Mariabombia · 08/04/2022 19:02

@RoseGold24 that's amazing! ☺️♥️ all the best xx

@ElbowsandArses thanks for sharing, aww that's really good to hear. Im definitely keeping an open mind about it 🤞🏻

Thanks @Mariabombia wishing you all the best x

Whilstwewait · 08/04/2022 20:24

Acupuncture worked for me. I had it on cycle 14. I had it weekly and conceived that month. I believe I had it on the day of ovulation because I remember having ovulation pains that night.
I think with everything TTC related that it may have just been a coincidence and it would have happened anyway but who knows. I’ll definitely use it again for number 2 but will probably try for a while first without. I found it really relaxing and liked the fact it made me feel like I was doing something to help xx

Mariabombia · 08/04/2022 20:53

@Whilstwewait thanks for sharing! There's a few posters now saying it worked for them first time so, although it may be coincidental , it certainly does give me hope :) xx

OP posts:
bathbombaholic · 15/08/2022 17:13

@Mariabombia how are you getting on with it now? Are you still going?
I had my first session last week and not sure how I feel about it to be honest...

Mariabombia · 15/08/2022 17:24

@bathbombaholic I actually really enjoyed it and went every week for a while and then every two weeks for a bit. It really helped me to relax if nothing else.

I did actually conceive in May but sadly had a MC about 3 weeks ago. Taking a break from acupuncture for now.

It's not for everyone but I think it's worth giving it a shot. I found It very therapeutic Xx
