@Tillybabs exactly, that's great you can get going!

Kay00 · 31/05/2022 19:51

Thanks for you well wishes ladies. Unfortunately I had bad news from the embryologist this afternoon. None of my other 11 embryos made it to Blast. The small stage 1 from Monday made it to Blast but immediately arrested and the rest started going backwards.

So thats it. Out of 12 great embryos on day three, I had one Blast and nothing to freeze. I have been disappointed and confused today.

The embryologist said he didn't know why there was such a huge drop off (92%) and suggested it was just bad luck. He might be right but I suspect we have an issue here.

I remain grateful for the one embryo that we've had transferred back, but if it doesn't implant and stick then we need to do some thinking around our next steps.

beckyCarlos · 31/05/2022 21:09

Ah @kay00 that is not good news. I hope you're doing ok. I have everything crossed for your one x x x

thislittlebird · 31/05/2022 21:55

@Kay00 that sucks, can totally understand you feeling like that, that’s a big drop off and you’re bound to feel confused by it. Bad luck does seem a bit of a stretch, but fingers crossed for this embryo. I guess the plus side is you know the potential stumbling block on round one, if that makes sense?

Kay00 · 31/05/2022 21:58

Thanks xx yes I think its good to know where our biggest issue might be. Other than the day 5 drop off the protocol and results were very good.

Gracie2021 · 31/05/2022 22:22

God I'm so sorry @Kay00 that absolutely sucks. I've been there and know how it feels. Just so glad you got your transfer and fingers crossed for this to stick. Hope you're doing ok x

Great news that you can get sorted before the weekend @Tillybabs.

@99pctpractice yes this is the second leg of my second duostim. Numbers wise they definitely work well for me. Double the number of follicles on the second leg each time. Just hoping the lower stims and HGH mean more embryoes. I wonder if you'd get the same effect from luteal phase stims without doing the first collection.

@beckyCarlos you're making me want to go back to yoga. Would love to do that or Pilates but haven't been able to the last few months with isolating. Had a yoga teacher I loved a few years back but then moved and tried two diff studios but it didn't click for me and I gave up. Miss that walking taller feeling, I used to always feel two inches taller. Great news that you have your follow on app. Have you thought about any approaches you'd be interested in or are you going to just see what he advises?

Tillybabs · 31/05/2022 22:34

@Kay00 that really sucks I'm sorry the others never made it. I'm glad you did get that one blast and really hope it sticks.

Bad luck does seem to be a stretch although I guess not entirely impossible. Depending on the outcome of this cycle it's maybe something you can look to investigate further?

InvisibleDreamer · 31/05/2022 23:04

@Kay00 that is gutting IVF is so brutal. I always get this the wrong way round but I was told that fertilisation & up to day 3 is more to do with the eggs and 3-5 is more to do with the sperm or it may be the other way round!!! I’m sure someone else on here must know??

beckyCarlos · 31/05/2022 23:50

Oih @invisibledreamer I've not heard that but it sounds interesting!
@gracie2021 I've never been to a live class before (Im all about yoga with adriene!) But it was a friend taking it which was nice. I used to go to a pilates studio in town but it closed and I was gutted, I've never done anything so 'easy' that made me feel so good but also in pain the next day 🤣 I'm going to see what he suggests first I think, and then challenge if he suggests another long protocol as it clearly doesn't work for me, friends of friends are at the same clinic and gave had long and short protocols so hopefully he's up for trying something new. Our other option is to either try 'natural' IVF in Leeds (which I'm dubious about) or go for something like Zita West or the Lister but those come with travel, accommodation etc... lots to ponder on holiday 🤣

Gracie2021 · 01/06/2022 07:23

@beckyCarlos estrogen priming worked for me in terms of getting double the follicles I usually get. Still only got four eggs from the nine follicles but I think they triggered me too early and it's the best non duostim round I've had.

Tillybabs · 01/06/2022 08:48

Morning

So AF hasn't arrived yet. Yesterday I had a slight pink tinge and some cramping but today nothing. If my full flow doesn't come in the next few hours I can't go and have my shot

I've done two cheap HCG strip tests, both negative. I don't know what's going on arghhh

I've had on and off slight cramping since last Thurs/Fri

beckyCarlos · 01/06/2022 09:07

@gracie2021 ooh thats good to know, thank you! I feel like a broken record but I was SO disappointed with the result if my long protocol, I usually have 4 folicles knocking about in any given cycle, but after ALL the injections I only had 2?! Thats sum total as well, not 2 big and some smaller ones. 2!

@tillybabs oh love thats so frustrating! Whats your cut off time? It is the hardest thing not to stress because won't help but it is so undeniably stressful! X

Tillybabs · 01/06/2022 09:15

@beckyCarlos I have to be there before 4pm today.

I'm just getting paranoid now that something isn't right

Gracie2021 · 01/06/2022 09:35

Convinced adding clomid was also good for me if that's any help @beckyCarlos. I've gone for the kitchen sink approach ie throw everything except the kitchen sink at it.

@Tillybabs so annoying, can you even pop in last minute today if it arrives? Those few days waiting for period are the worst.

Scan here this morning and I'm slightly concerned about timing. Assuming clinic is closed Saturday to Monday due to the Monday bank holiday here, I'd assumed I'd be fine for ER Friday. But as of this morning 15 follicles (yay) but have 20, 18, 17, 3x16, 15, 2x13, 3x11 and 3 tiny. For ER Friday I'd have to trigger tonight and probably lose anything under the 15 whereas if it wasn't the weekend I'm assuming they'd have me go another day on stims. My ER is always on a Friday for some reason and I think I e def triggered too early twice now which is so frustrating.

Tillybabs · 01/06/2022 09:52

@Gracie2021 I can pop in last minute I just need AF to play ball. It's amazing how the symptoms as well mimic those of pregnancy so your mind starts playing tricks on you.

The bank holiday is tomorrow and Friday no? So I'm assuming they won't be open Friday but will be on Monday so they won't ask you to take your trigger yet?

Gracie2021 · 01/06/2022 09:56

@Tillybabs that's nearly the worst thing isn't it. Pms and pregnancy are so similar you don't even know what way is up. I think every time you take a negative test it takes its toll on you too. Glad you can go in til last thing and hope your body plays ball today.
I'm in ireland so Monday is our bank holiday and tomorrow and Friday are normal working days. Looking back at the sizes think Friday will be ok for retrieval. This is my last retrieval so just second guessing everything wanting the best result.

Tillybabs · 01/06/2022 09:59

@Gracie2021 oh I see. I totally get why you are concerned. Can you maybe give them a call to raise your concerns? They may well do EC on a Saturday?

Tillybabs · 02/06/2022 11:11

AF has arrived 😭

Have a lovely long weekend ladies x

thislittlebird · 02/06/2022 12:42

@Tillybabs ahhh no what does that mean for your injection?

Tillybabs · 02/06/2022 12:44

@thislittlebird it's fine they told me to go in Monday morning for my first shot 🙌🏽 and it won't be too late

I just hate it as my period is really heavy for a couple of days which means a crappy bank holiday weekend for me 😭

beckyCarlos · 02/06/2022 12:47

Yeeees! @tillybabs so pleased you can still carry on. Bit rubbish about heavy flow this weekend though. Sometimes it seems like out bodies are just out to point and laugh at us doesnt it. X

thislittlebird · 02/06/2022 13:16

@Tillybabs crappy heavy period BUT you get to have the injection which must be a relief!

Tillybabs · 02/06/2022 13:29

@beckyCarlos tell me about it!

@thislittlebird yep a huge relief. I was really worried it would be delayed another month

Gracie2021 · 02/06/2022 17:01

@Tillybabs glad you can get sorted on Monday but such a pain with the timing. Hope it's not too bad.

ER tomorrow here so hoping for the best and a nice social weekend planned after all my isolating. Last ER ever per our agreed plan so fingers crossed.

99pctpractice · 02/06/2022 17:29

Great news @Tillybabs feels like we're always either wishing on af or devastated because af has appeared...! I'm cd39 and was hoping af would arrive before I go on holiday on Sunday so I could start my monitoring cycle at the new clinic before I go but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Hopefully it is mega late and arrives when I get back so I don't have to wait until July!

@Gracie2021 good luck for ec tomorrow!!! Hopefully those little ones will catch up! So frustrating that ec ends up being timed around when the clinic is open, but at least it will make sure you catch the bigger ones before they get too big!
