Positive outcome after Slow rising hcg.

Has anyone had positive experience with slow rising hcg levels, they increased but they didn’t double as expected ? My home pregnancy tests continue to get darker every 48 hours and I had a dye stealer today. I had a early scan to rule out ectopic and the sac was there and measuring perfect at exactly 4weeks and 5 days . I won’t hear from my dr until next week and the waiting is driving me crazy. 😭

Hello,

so sorry to bring this up again especially if it didn’t end well for you but we are in the same boat now with very slow rising HCG and are looking everywhere for any success stories where it did end well, can I ask what the outcome was for you? Thank you ❤️❤️

Shel044 · 26/11/2023 21:02

We just celebrated our little man’s 1st birthday ! Sending you lots of love and hoping that all ends up working out for you.

My dr was more concerned as my levels were so low, rather than the slow rise.

All the best.

Hi thanks so much for replying.

That is so lovely to hear I’m so happy for you!

One last question sorry if you don’t mind!

When your HCG levels were slowly rising, can I ask how slow? The science is saying any slow below 50% increase will end badly but we wonder if there is any success stories!

many thanks in advance :)

@Ssedd
I know this way years ago, but I am in the same boat and was wondering what the outcome was?

Sorry if it didn't end well and it's something you don't want to talk about.

Ssedd · 08/02/2025 11:32

@Simplehuman Hi, I’m sorry to hear that, sadly it did end with misscarrage for us, and the research we did all said it would (my HCG was very slow rising, less than 60%). We are now 13 weeks pregnant with our double rainbow baby though so there is a happy ending ❤️ sending love to you. X

Ahhh congratulations thats amazing, very happy you

Thank you for your reply. Mine only increased 9% so I guess I'll accept it too, but lovely to hear your news, give me hope

I’m currently in the same position. First hcg rise was 39% then 63%, just waiting on results for the next 2 betas I did. But the numbers are super low (less than 100) even though I’m at 5 weeks. Trying to stay hopefully but realistic at the same time.

Hi @UserL95
When will you get your results, 63% is good rise! From what I've read it's not about the numbers, it's about the rise so I think that's good.
Don't loose hope just yet

Fingers crossed for you x

UserL95 · 09/02/2025 15:08

@Simplehuman im getting the betas done from a private clinic and they say 2-3 working days so I’m hoping they’ll have the results to me by Wednesday at the latest? So hard to wait and sit with the unknown :(

Simplehuman · 09/02/2025 15:22

@UserL95 it really is hard to wait, my scan is on weds too, so we can give each other company until then!!
I'm in a place where I feel whatever is meant to be will me (just right now, an hour ago I was trying to book a private scan before OH told me to wait) im just going through the motions, up and down!!

UserL95 · 09/02/2025 15:36

@Simplehuman I can really relate to what you’re saying!

what’s your story so far? And how far along are you?

im hoping to book a scan for next weekend or early the following week

Simplehuman · 09/02/2025 16:55

I am currently meant to be 6+5

Background: a embryonic pregnancy exactly 1 year ago, I felt symptoms reduce at 6 weeks, 7 week scan was empty sac

Fast forward a year, pregnant again
Loss of symptoms at 5ish weeks
Spoke to GP and did HCG
31st Jan 6100
4th Feb 12900
6thfeb 14800 (didn't double)

Went for a scan at 6+3, I didn't realise it was external not Internal but
Saw sac and York sac but that's it, no heartbeat no fetal pole

Rebooked external scan for Tues and GP referred me to hospital for scan on weds

Feeling loss of symptoms completely though.

Just feel gutted, how can this happen again exactly a year to date!

I think that's a good idea, make sure it's internal - you'll be 6 weeks?

UserL95 · 09/02/2025 18:09

@Simplehuman your hcg numbers are still good though! I read that anything over 39% rise can be viable too?

my background is we’ve been TTC out first for almost 4 years with no luck ever. This is our very first positive !!! I’m 5+3 now and tested positive 2 days before my period was due. But my tests have stayed pretty light throughout.
beta 1 was 25
beta 2 was 39
beta 3 was 58
I have done beta 4 and 5 they’re the results I’m waiting for. Tests seem to get lighter and darker every few days but they’re still light for how far along I am in my opinion.

I had a call from my community midwife today! I really needed that as I was feeling so down on everything, feels like a good sign. Hopeful not optimistic though.

im trying to wait until im at least 6+5 to book the internal scan to give my hcg time to catch up as I know you’re less likely to find anything with low hcg numbers too.

has your gp been supportive? I asked mine for nhs beta hcg review he said no, I said im worried about my private beta reviews he said im not bleeding so there’s nothing he can do. I asked for cyclogest as previous private fertility support showed that my progesterone can be on the lower/borderline ends and he said no. Feel like I was just facing barriers! Hence doing so much privately.

Simplehuman · 09/02/2025 19:36

@UserL95

They're going up though, I've read some people didn't get positive tests until 2 weeks after missed period, hopefully it's just because you're so early and it'll continue to rise

My GP has been supportive, I think it's because he was new and didn't know so he sent me for HCG, but I know people who have had it refused. To be honest, in hindsight I kinda understand why, it literally changes nothing. Knowing my HCG isn't doubling isn't changing anything appart from increasing anxiety. Next time I think I'll just let nature do its thing.

Obviously your position is so much different after 4 long years, I understand how you must be feeling, I think they should have sent you for tests and early scan!!! Have more support in the hospital as well!!

I really hope all goes well, any pregnancy symptoms??

UserL95 · 09/02/2025 20:26

@Simplehuman to be honest I really understand your view on tests like hcg beta just increasing anxiety. For me I’ve done it to arm myself with data, almost planning for things to go wrong so that next time I know what my body will do. I think I’m like this as I was expecting to do an ivf cycle in feb/march and already psyched myself up that the first cycle won’t work (statistically) but on the second cycle we will know all the things to do better next time. I think I’m treating this pregnancy like that… but didn’t realise until right now, wow.

im so glad your gp was/is supportive though, there’s nothing worse than not feeling heard and listened to.

I had lots of cramping especially 4days after getting a positive, I had sore boobs/nipples, and some small waves of nausea. I’ve not really noticed any symptoms most of this week though other than back ache. I don’t feel too stressed about symptoms or lack of though if I’m honest.

how about you?

Yehh that makes sense! Im so surprised your GP wasn't supportive for this!!! Sometimes I do feel like that I'd rather just have privatised care than the NHS because when you actually need help you have to go private anyway and no body listens

So I'm exactly the same, nausea, tiredness, sore boobs, the world's at 4 weeks and now all gone

I have a feeling this is a genetic/ chromosomal issue if it is another MMC so I guess I'm going to have to go private too if I did want another child.
Literally sucks this phase

UserL95 · 10/02/2025 08:34

@Simplehuman is it because of your previous pregnancy you think it may be chromosomal/genetic? They definitely say coq10 can help with that and for sperm dna fragmentation too I think?

I actually work for the nhs so I know how broken the system is from the inside too, and it’s just a sad state of affairs. But I absolutely go private whenever I can - especially in fertility stuff because I think the nhs just doesn’t take fertility that seriously as a blanket thing.

today is the first day I haven’t tested in 2 weeks - I feel so nervous but proud of myself at the same time! I wonder if I can last all day without testing ha ha

Simplehuman · 11/02/2025 14:08

We had a scan, only external, saw a tiny heartbeat. Not 100% celebrating yet as baby is still measuring behind so waiting for my NHS scan Tomo for confirmation

How are you doing?.it is so hard to not keep testing, I tested nearly everyday too!!! Today was 1st day!!
Sorry I didn't reply sooner I've been feeling so low and anxious

How are you holding up?

UserL95 · 14/02/2025 13:37

@Simplehuman hey how was your nhs scan? So pleased you saw the heartbeat at the private scan too!!! I understand the anxiety but hopefully you’ve been able to start getting a bit more excited now too.

saldy my pregnancy ended in loss as I started miscarrying at exactly 6 weeks. No happy updates from me xx

Simplehuman · 14/02/2025 18:40
