Miscarriage, period, then nothing..... advice needed!

Hi Ladies,

A quick question - I had a missed miscarriage in early-mid October. I stopped bleeding on or around 12th October, then had what I thought was a period (normal in length and type of bleed etc) on 20th October.

This meant that the cycle that I had the miscarriage in was exactly 29 days in length. Once I had the first period I had therefore assumed that my cycles had returned to some sort of normality.

We have been ttc since but I am now on day 79, still no period and lots of bfns.

Where does this leave me, what should I do?
Has anyone else expereinced this?

Thanks
xx

NO experience but I think you should definitely go to gp and explain situation.

did you have a d&c after your m/c?

cmotdibbler · 07/01/2008 10:26

IME your cycles can go really wacky after a missed mc. I tried Agnus Castus after mcs 1-3, and it really helped to kick things into touch.
GP may or may not be of any use - after mc 1 I went after 90 days, and they shrugged their shoulders !

Thanks for such quick responses!

I didn't need a d&c belgo because the bleeding had nearly ended by the time I got an appointment with early pregnancy unit. They did a scan and couldn't see anything, checked HCG in bloods over a couple of days and apparently the levels were nearly back to normal & because I didn't have any pain they said that the mc appeared to be complete. But to come back if concerned over anything.

I would go to my docs but I don't really see what she can do, apart from listen to me moan on!

cmotdibbler, I was considering using Agnus Castus but I had heard so many conflicting stories on here that I'm just not sure..
It's so reassuring to know that you experienced something similar with your cycles. It's comforting to know that I'm not alone.

I just feel like it's neverending. I would do anything for a baby but it just seems something is conspiring against me. I lost my first little boy at 25 weeks nearly a year ago, a missed mc and now no periods! The one thing that kept me going through everything last year was the thought that I would one day have a baby, but right now there just seems like there's no hope

you are allowed to go to the docs and just moan!
It might be something else, not mc related. I went to my docs on my 2nd mc just so as to log it should I be unlucky enough to have a 3rd they could maybe take test.

in any other case I don't go near a doctor (bad past experiences)
It seems like you may need to talk about it all

sorry to here about your losses

I would go to the doctors, even if it ends up being just a chat. And I'm so sorry for your losses

They can give you progesterone to induce a period.
I was a bit desperate, so thought I'd give AC a whirl, and it certainly did the trick for me - was careful not to take it after ovulation though.
It does feel so hopeless at times though - I despaired that my body would do anything right at times.
I found the book "Trying again" really helpful in working through my feelings about it all.
