Extremely scared pregnant after MMC

Hey guys,

I don’t post often and usually just read other threads for answers but I’m worried sick since getting a positive pregnancy just over 4 weeks post ERPC.

  • Had a scan to check everything had been removed
  • Got negative pregnancy tests around 2 weeks after ERPC

Was waiting for my period, thought I’d track ovulation and see what was going on. OPKs negative, assumed I’d probably already ovulated but carried on anyway just to see if I get a positive. Got a positive OPK one night, next morning did both OPK and HPT. both positive. I was extremely shocked - due to MMC not been able to be excited at all.

Wanted advice on how to cope? 12 week scan is so far away. Not sure I’ll get one at 8 weeks. Also not sure it would reassure me even if I did tbh, as the heartbeat can stop at any point after the 8 week scan…

Any advice would be appreciated. I’m a mess right now.

Thank you

Hi op, firstly, sorry about your mmc , I had three and I know how it changes your future pregnancies. It’s normal to feel anxious and terrified.
Congratulations on your pregnancy
Things that helped me

  • getting my Hcg beta levels tested every 2 days to ensure doubling okay
  • fortnightly scans to check progress
  • I never looked at the scans and this helped me immensely until I was at a safer point. It’s easier to cope with any loss when you don’t see heartbeats
  • talking to close family/ friends to share the worries
  • avoiding triggering situations or people that might say things that would make me more anxious

This is a new pregnancy and there’s every chance it will be absolutely fine but just take one day at a time , I wish you a happy and healthy 9 months

@Agathawispy

Thank you so much for responding and for your advice!
So sorry to hear you’ve been through such a painful experience 3 times.

Did you have the scans on the NHS? Or private?
I think they may give me one early scan for dating purposes, as I’m not sure how they’re going to figure out how far along I am, I have no clue myself really. Maybe 4ish weeks.

Only one or two of my friends have experienced miscarriages and one has recently moved abroad, the other is going through a early miscarriage again. So I think I’d have to wait before I mention anything to them!

I’ve only had private scans, it’s expensive but every two weeks until 12 weeks helped my sanity.
The miscarriage association has a helpline and there are threads on here like ttc after miscarriage which might be useful to talk about your fears and anxieties. You will feel anxious and it’s about learning to cope with that feeling unfortunately.
I never used it during my healthy pregnancy but lots of people swear by mindfulness apps and meditation.
I just survived by putting one foot in front of the other, keeping busy at work and all of the other things I listed before.
Let me know how you get on
