Confusion after miscarriage?

Hello everyone,

I have come here for some advice. I managed to conceive on month 4 of TTC but unfortunately this ended in a miscarriage at around 5 weeks (miscarriage started on Thursday 10th March).

How long will it take my cycle to get back to normal? How long before I can try again? Am I likely to get pregnant straight away? I've always tracked my cycles on an app and now I feel like I'm starting from scratch and I feel completely lost.

Can anyone share their experiences? I miss squinting at pregnancy tests and the butterflies I felt when I got a clear positive, I miss being pregnant and I miss the happiness my partner had when he knew I was having his baby. I'm sorry to vent but I just need to know there is hope it can happen again for us.

I'm so sorry OP. This happened to me last year, it was the saddest thing I have ever been through. It seemed the pain would never end. I decided to get pregnant again straightaway too, it has been an anxious time but really helped my feelings about the baby we lost too. I'm now over half way, having got pregnant on the second cycle post miscarriage.

It took me around 6 weeks to get a negative pregnancy result (I understand this is slightly unusual as EPU saw me to make sure no retained products etc). I had one very short cycle after that (19 days, normally around 25) that I don't think it would have been possible to conceive in due to that. I took Pregnacare as I read here that it tends to lengthen cycles, and the next cycle I got my BFP.

I used the cheap ovulation sticks alongside the Clearblue Advance ones. Any sticks only work once you have a negative pregnancy test, as they don't distinguish pregnancy and ovulation hormones well. I was using the cheap ones every day, just in case things were a bit more irregular, then used the Clearblue Advance ones more liberally than usual (a few days earlier than suggested for my usual length of cycle), in case my cycle was irregular.

I also used Ovusense vaginal temperature monitor which was great albeit pricey (I would definitely use when TTC again), as well as the Maybe Baby saliva monitor I found less helpful but very cheap. To be honest, I think I just poured my heart into anything possible I could do to distract myself from my pain.

I found it helpful searching on Mumsnet for success stories after miscarriage (there are so many). I hope it happens for you soon too Flowers

@ElleBelleLou I'm so sorry this happened to you it's just awful!

This happened to me in Jan and I counted the first day I bled as cd1. We were ttc but my period arrived exactly 28 days after I started bleeding. I have just found out I'm pregnant (very early though) so I only had 1 period in between.

Admittedly I don't track my cycles we just dtd through my fertile window and hope for the best.

Sending baby dust 💕
