Pregnancy after decade+ gap

Hi all,

Not sure what I'm asking for but just having a bit of a brain dump and would welcome some thoughts.

I'm 37 with a pre teen and a teen. Happy, stable marriage, great career. I've always wanted atleast 4 children but after child 2 got busy with going back to Uni, career etc until it became a really big break. Aware that I need to make a decision soon if I want atleast 1 more (not 2).

My concerns are -

Lifestyle: We are very free - travel, go out, no constraints, rushing to endless sports for kids, play sports weekly leaving kids at home, events etc. throwing a baby into the mix will upheav everyones life.

Health: I had kids in early to mid 20s, easy pregnancy, easy labour, obviously won't be the same anymore. How has late 30s pregnancy been for everyone? And how easy is it to lose weight after? I was a size 10 for past decade, moved up to 12 now and finding it hard to get back to 10. Very active, eat healthy, gym every day.

Other concerns: With my 2, I loved motherhood, wasn't working, lots of patience, spent oodles of times in playgroups and parks and baby centers etc, don't think I have that sort of patience anymore

Has anyone had children with large gaps or towards 40s and how have you handled it? AIBU in considering it and should I just get on with things as they are?
