HSG Test

Hey all Smile

Hoping there may have been someone in the same boat as me. I'm due to go for a HSG test in a few weeks to kick start my IVF process, and I'm feeling a little nervous about this.

I've googled how the test is conducted, and I just wanted to hear from women who have went through it? Google is giving me horror stories about how it's an unbelievable pain. I'm still technically a 'virgin' (I'm a lesbian and my partner isn't yet comfortable using, you know).

I'm definitely expecting discomfort but thought it would be nice to come on this and hear from anyone who has also went through this?

Thanks for reading! Daffodil

I should probably add I'm under 25 so never experienced a smear test yet either!

Having an intact hymen (if you do) will have no impact at all. I found it painful but not crazy bad. Basically at the point where the catheter passes info cervix I got loads of hard cramping (maybe 7/10 pain for 20s?). Then zero pain but felt very dizzy when the liquid was flushed in (can't feel it at all though), then no pain when it was all removed. Some mild cramps after, maybe 2/10.

I've had it done twice and it was uncomfortable but otherwise painless x

@sjp00, how did you get on? I’ve just been given an appointment in 4 weeks time and I am a bit worried. Hope it’s all going well for you.

Still not had my appointment yet :( last months period and this months period means my appointment would have to be on a bank holiday which they’re not open for so have to wait until my end of May period before I can get booked in, though I am feeling a lot better about the thought of it now. Only 20 ish minutes so if need be I’ll Chuck on an episode of friends to distract me haha! Hope all goes well for you xxx
