BFP or CP?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can give me a rational, honest opinion on my test.

I’m 11dp5dt (ivf) which is roughly 16dpo.
It’s my official test day today and I got a BFP.

However, I’m very sceptical as I’ve had bleeding (light) for the last 9 days on/off. After ridiculously googling, I found images of how a 16dpo test should look and mine looks a lot lighter.

I’m worried it is a chemical pregnancy. The test has got darker over the last few days but still don’t know if it’s dark enough.

CB digi says pregnant 1-2 weeks and as I’m 4w2days, I was expecting to be in the 2-3 weeks category!

Thanks
Freya

Didn't want to leave your post unanswered. My FRER at 16 DPO were as dark as the control line in my most recent successful pregnancy. I had two MCs before this and had a lot of light bleeding in the early days with one of these unsuccessful pregnancies. I also had the CB indicator lagging behind (I knew my dates) and that was another indicator that things weren't progressing as they should. I miscarried that pregnancy at 8 weeks.

I so so hope that the outcome is different for you but also don't want to sugar coat things. But every pregnancy is different so my experience may not be a reflection of what will happen with you.

WutheringCripes · 12/03/2022 17:38

Mine looked exactly the same as yours at 18DPO and didn't really get any darker tbh! Baby due next week!

These tests are not designed to track progression so get a blood test if you are concerned.

Spotting very common in early pregnancy.

madeleine85 · 13/03/2022 04:19

I tracked mine by day and I had faint lines till 15 dpo which started rapidly darkening after that, but didn’t hit the same level as the control line for a few more days. We’re 14 weeks now. To me, That’s a strong positive pregnancy test. I really hope it’s a sticky one for you. Keep a pic of your test and compare it in 48 hours, hope you see that progression. Also, congratulations!

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. And a huge congratulations!

My test line today was darker than yesterday. However, the CB digi is freaking me out as it’s still on 1-2 weeks. Did anyone do these? I’d have hoped to have moved to 2-3 weeks if my hcg was progressing.

I’ve got an appointment with my clinic tomorrow so hopefully they will take bloods as constant googling isn’t helping me 😂

The CB digital ones are a week or so behind so you have to add a few weeks on, it's all in the leaflet I think!

WutheringCripes · 13/03/2022 13:45

The CB digis are absolutely useless! I'm pretty sure they design them to panic you in to buying more tests!!

Put the tests down 😊 that is honestly too dark a line for a chemical pregnancy.

IsabelHerna · 13/03/2022 18:16

I dont have any advice, but I do think it's a good sign that the line is getting darker. keeping everything crossed for you xxx

Freya871 · 13/03/2022 19:43

Thank you so much everyone!

I’ve decided to stop testing (good advice) until I can get into the clinic. It’s not doing me any favours!

Who knew a two week wait could make you feel so crazy?! 😂

I just wanted to add a final update to this post in case anyone goes searching like I did.

Unfortunately, this pregnancy is ending in an early loss/chemical pregnancy.

My lines did get darker (and have stayed dark) but my beta came back at a low 29 which unfortunately means that it is viable.

To anyone searching for advice- trust your gut if you feel something isn’t right. Also don’t rely on home tests to tell you how your pregnancy is going!

Sorry, the last post should have said that the pregnancy is NOT viable!

So sorry OP 💐

DappledOliveGroves · 16/03/2022 21:09

@Freya871 - have they checked your 48 hour beta? I had always understood that it was a case of the numbers doubling or more. I thought that whilst a number might be on the low side, if it's doubling then that's the more important indicator?

Freya871 · 16/03/2022 22:12

They have redone my beta (which comes back tomorrow). However as I was 13dp5dt transfer for my first, 29 was far too low for them to think it could be viable.
I’ve since had cramping and negative pregnancy tests so I’ll eat my hat if it’s doubled!
Thank you though- you are completely right in that the doubling is the important bit, they’ve just prepared me that v v low numbers past a certain point don’t end well in the majority of cases.

If anyone has a positive story of successful ivf after a chemical pregnancy, I’m all ears! Especially if you’ve used an embryo from the same batch! 🤞🏻

I dont mean to be insensitive an not 100% sure how these things work or your situation. Have you did since the IVF? Is there a chance the IVF failed but you have conceived naturally later on in cycle? Perhaps that's why your getting 1-2 week tests etc

PoleFairy · 17/03/2022 11:40

Dtd not did

Freya871 · 17/03/2022 11:59

Not insensitive at all, don’t worry.

No, we were advised against DTD after the transfer so that isn’t an option sadly.

My 2nd Beta came back today at 58, which means it has doubled. However, I’m currently 15dp5dt so it is significantly lower than it should be. My Dr is now cautious of an ectopic pregnancy so I need a 3rd Beta tomorrow.

Who said having a baby would be easy? 🙈😂😂😂
