Pregnancy testing straight after miscarriage

Hi everyone :)

My first time posting on mumsnet but have benefitted from reading lovely supportive posts.

I found out I was pregnant for the first time this year and on 14/2 found out at my 8 week scan that I had had a silent miscarriage. The following week I had to have an induced miscarriage (tablets) to allow the pregnancy to pass. An incredibly difficult time and honestly the only thing getting me through is the hope of conceiving quickly again.

My understanding is that I can get pregnancy before having a period and the first day of the miscarriage would count as day 1. My husband and I have been TTC but the challenge is that I am still showing as pregnant on tests and probably will at the 4 week mark. I suppose the only indicator of a new pregnancy would be the absence of a period this time as I cant trust tests aren't detecting from my miscarried pregnancy? My concern with this is I've heard after a miscarriage period cycles can be 4-6 weeks.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I thought the two week wait to test was hard last time but it seems like this wait will have no specific end point as unable to test reliably.

Thanks in advance

You can ovulate even with the pregnancy hormones that are lasting long enough to give you a positive test so maybe do some basal body temperature gushing or OPKs as well? Good luck and so sorry for your loss x

I'm in the exact same situation and I was wondering this too.

I have just been in the same situation - you need to go back to the EPU - this could be a sign the miscarriage was incomplete and you may need more attention. I had to confirm to the EPU who is looking after me that I had a negative test at three weeks otherwise they want me back for investigation

Actually @Vslightlystressy is correct and I apologize for not saying so myself. You do need the negative test to make sure that's everything is out ....
