Hi all. I started a new job at the end of last September and everything is going really well. I am on a six month probation which ends very soon. Me and my partner would like to start trying for a baby, however, I have anxiety because I don’t know whether this is too soon in to a job. I know there is never a right time and you should never put your life on hold for a job. Im curious what other people’s thoughts are and if anyone has been in a similar situation?

Honestly I would maybe wait until the probation is over, but not wait any longer. You don't know how long it's going to take TTC. Could be immediatly, but also longer than a year.

I was in the same situation and have waited until the probation is over which incidentally is also when the good mat leave kicks in. I did worry that maybe it was too soon and they'd be annoyed but I'm going to be having babies at some point while I'm working for them so may as well get cracking was where I netted out! Good luck!

Don’t wait, once you are sure you’ll get your mat. leave then go for it.

Definitely don't wait. It might be a simple journey for you to fall pregnant, it might not.

My experience was that it took 27 months from starting to ttc to giving birth. I had a miscarriage and both that pregnancy and that with my dd both took 8 months each to conceive. I'm now ttc #2 and on month 6. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my dh or me: in fact, we have excellent fertility as explained to us by a private doctor after tests. I never expected it to take that long, let alone to lose a pregnancy and to have to start all over again but it does and it's common unfortunately.
