Bare with me this might be a long one.

I have had sex once in February (due date calculator puts me at 5 weeks 4 days according to conception day) I’m on the pill, take it everyday within a couple of hours max.

I started bleeding (which isn’t normal for me. I never have periods on the pill!) which made me think I could maybe be pregnant - implantation, chemical etc.

I’ve taken several tests, some are negative and some have been very faint positives. I’ll attach photos from the latest tests from today (7/3/22) this test has a bit of colour to it, and I can see it in person but it’s a bit harder to see in photos.

I have a lot of cramping, as if I was on my period. I’m still bleeding, I’ve been bleeding for about 3 days now - very light pink, sometimes darker. Not spotting as far as I know as it feels like when I wipe a few times (sorrry tmi) there’s a bit more than spotting.

Could this be a miscarriage and I’ve just tested ‘early’ (no idea on DPO since I don’t have periods on pill!) could it be a chemical pregnancy? Could I be pregnant?!

Should I call the DR or keep testing and see if the lines get darker?

Please help me! I have a two year old and I am terrified!

Hi Op.

I would recommend testing again in two days time, if your test gets darker then it could be that you are pregnant. If its no darker/lighter then it could be a chemical. I don't think there is much your doctor would do at this stage. Cramping and bleeding are quite common in early pregnancy so may not indicate what's happening either way.

Doodledoo · 07/03/2022 10:48

Thank you so much for replying. I’ve no one to talk to about this and I’ve just been sat here panicking Confused

Can I ask do you think that if I was pregnant and 5 weeks (according to conception date) would the lines not be darker? Sorry for so many questions xx

Yes, at 5 weeks you'd be around 21dpo probably, you'd get a far darker line by now.
When you did those tests - did the lines show up within time frame or after?

Doodledoo · 07/03/2022 13:48

@Bundaberg84 yes they showed up within 5 minutes - they’re eBay cheapies so I’m not 100% sure on how long you are supposed to wait to see a result but they were definitely taken before 5 mins had passed.

Thank you, I would have thought they’d be darker too that’s why I’m so confused, could it be a chemical pregnancy/early miscarriage? I just feel hopeless.

I do have some first response coming in the post tomorrow from Amazon, is it safe to say if those show me a faint line that I should just call the GP and explain my situation? (With me being so far along, bleeding & faint lines?)

Thanks again for responding Smile

It's possible that it's a chemical pregnancy, of course. Did you take all pills on time for your last cycle?
What does your GP say re: not bleeding since you're on the pill?

Doodledoo · 07/03/2022 14:00

@Bundaberg84

My dr didn’t seem to worried about my periods stopping due to the pill, she said the pill I’m on that can happen with some women!

Yes as far as I can remember (second guessing myself here) I took all pills on time and I have definitely not missed a pill or been out of the time frame.

I just want a yes or a no, it’s driving me crazy worrying, the line being there But so faint is just making me think it could be a chemical and perhaps along with the bleeding I may have missed it if i wasn’t such a panic tester lol ConfusedBlush

Do you maybe want to take another test from another brand just do see how that works out? Probably a FRER, or any other pink dye test, or an early detection with a digital display?

lollipopsandrainbows · 07/03/2022 14:47

I'd take a digital, I believe they're more sensitive?

CantStandMeCow · 07/03/2022 14:49

I can’t see a line on your tests OP, and 5 weeks would definitely show a strong line. I hope you’re okay.

Doodledoo · 07/03/2022 14:50

@Bundaberg84
I have some FRER arriving tomorrow, I will order some digital tests too, I'll have a look whats available to me on amazon and if no joy I'll venture to the shops with my toddler lol. Thanks for all your help, will keep everyone updated

@lollipopsandrainbows
I am going to order some digital tests too, i was always told they were less sensitive so harder for you to get a positive out of them but I think i'll try anything at this point! Thank you

@CantStandMeCow

Thank you, I am feeling so so anxious but otherwise okay (aside from the cramps!) It's so hard to see the line in the pics now I've looked again, it was very very faint - it could well have been an indent but i swore i could see some colour (in the zoomed in photo!) But you're right they should be SO much darker by now, or definitely able to see them in photos. I will try some other tests just to ease my worry, and maybe enquire with my GP why I'm bleeding, cramping etc on the pill. It's definitely unusual for me. Thanks again

@Doodledoo I may be wrong, but the digital picked mine up very early on. Alternatively ask GP for a blood test but I appreciate getting appointments are hard at the moment. Hope the tests tomorrow give you a more definitive answer.

@Doodledoo there are (newish) digital tests that are also very sensitive, 10mlU/ml as FRER: uk.clearblue.com/pregnancy-tests/digital-ultra-early

@lollipopsandrainbows @Bundaberg84 @CantStandMeCow @Kay00

Just an update ladies, from this afternoon, held my pee for around 6 hours! (No idea how I managed that!)

Safe to say this is a negative for me, can’t see any signs of a line on the first response!

Please help me! I am so confused.

@Doodledoo so pleased you finally got some answers. How are you feeling about it?

Doodledoo · 08/03/2022 21:05

@lollipopsandrainbows I feel a sense of relief of finally getting a clear answer, I think I’m fine with not being pregnant - for now! I would rather give my toddler a sibling when she’s a bit older, and maybe I’m a bit more prepared!
