Conceiving after surgical termination

Had to sadly have a surgical at 18 weeks it was my first pregnancy and now stressing there could be damage from the procedure and I won’t ever to be able to conceive again. Was terrible experience I lost so much blood that caused me to faint and had sharp pains afterwards so I’m expecting the worse. Has anyone gone on to have a healthy pregnancy as been reading too much on Google and just making myself upset reading all the bad bits. If you did how long after did you start trying again and to conceive? Thank you 😊

Sorry to hear you've had such a hard time. I had one at 18 weeks too and it was awful. I thought I'd never conceive again as the first couple of weeks were pretty rough, however, six weeks later I was already pregnant again and now have a healthy 5yo. It is possible! I remember speaking to a nurse thinking I've permanently damaged my insides and how I was worried about Asherman's etc, and she was very reassuring and said that most people are fine. Hope it all works out for you. Flowers

@SpaceyCake sorry to hear you had one as well. Thats great to hear you now got a healthy 5yo, at least I know that it is possible just the stress of not knowing. Thank you

Sorry for your loss.

I had surgical management for my mmc in 2019. It took me 8 months to conceive again and I now have an 18 month old!

@Chanel05 thank you that’s given me some more hope.

@Muddydogwalks my first pregnancy took 8 months to conceive also. I'm ttc #2 and I'm already on month 6. Basically, it takes me a little while but that's normal for me.

Muddydogwalks · 07/03/2022 11:39

@Chanel05 I was very lucky it took us 3 months so praying again I will be lucky. I hope you will soon get that bfp.

I had a surgical termination but it was first trimester so not sure if that’s helpful to you? I’m now 28 weeks pregnant and all is looking fine and healthy so far.

@SickAndTiredAgain It’s reassuring to hear that you have gone on to be 28 weeks pregnant. Wishing you the best with the rest of your pregnancy 😊

I had surgical management for a MMC at around 14 weeks. I conceived again on what would have been my first baby's due date and she's now a happy and healthy 4 year old.
