Why does EWCM disappear two days before ovulation?

Just wondering why this happens? I am quite sure of my ovulation timings, due to OPKs, blood tests and scans.

I've noticed that EWCM dries up 48 hours before ovulation. And yet, the two days before ovulation are the most fertile. So, why would that be?!

I would say that mine goes a day or so before ovulation. So got peak yesterday evening but ewcm was at its height probably 1-2 days before that. I’m hoping it’s to get sperm in position in advance ready for ovulating. But not sure really! Am just DTD across the whole period and crossing my fingers!

Mine does this too. Not sure why. The day I have it most is usually 3 days before. I read somewhere that your most fertile day is the day you have most EWCM, not necessarily the day nearest O. But I guess that also relies on having sperm willing to hang out long enough from peak EWCM to O.

I get most EWCM day before I get a peak, so around 2 days before O and then it dries. Like you, I can pinpoint my O through scans, BBT shift, etc, so I know I only get fertile CM days before O, and not on actual O day. It is strange, but as if the body is saying that the sperm needs a bit of time to get to the tubes and wait for the egg. I've been using EPO the last couple of months, and although I think there is extra CM now, it hasn't changed the timing of it.

Usually they say to DTD on peak day, but as I get my most fertile CM the day before, we DTD on peak -1 and then peak +1 (to allow a day in between for sperm to regenerate). Still no success though, so can't say what works. But at the same time, I want to use the most fertile CM, which is why we DTD peak -1.

I noticed this too - thought it was just my weird body! This month I was EWCM on days 11,12 and a bit on 13 with my peak on 14 so assuming ovulation 15...no success as yet though :-(
